Gatekeepers? John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan?
Sean Hannity(radio broadcaster) stated:
“You ended up getting rid of Boehner, you ended up getting rid of McCarthy. … The dumbest thing you should do is stop there. Get the speaker that you want — work to get somebody that will fight the fight that you are looking to engage in,” he said, according to the newspaper.

Gatekeeper: a person who controls access; one that tends or guards a gate.
A couple examples of a gatekeeper: Border patrol should be a very key gatekeeper position. (If they are given the authority to be a true gatekeeper.) Why else be a gatekeeper or a border patrol agent unless there was a determination to keep the gate; to keep out those individuals that you desire to keep out for the purposes of protecting the people within the gate, community, state, nation.
I don’t know of anyone who is in favor of opening their community to a terrorist, rapist,thief, drug dealer, sex trafficker, etc. Wouldn’t it be the height of insanity to not want protection (a gatekeeper) from behaviors that are just not permitted?
What about at the national level? Many within the conservative ranks (note that I didn’t say Republican ranks) are echoing the same thing in their circles as Sean Hannity:

What are some qualities that you would look for in a gatekeeper (speaking very generally)?
Though likeable, intelligent, and influential are nice qualities, I don’t believe those are the most needed qualities to fulfill the role of gatekeeper – especially when it comes to the security, the integrity of a nation.
If what is at stake is the very safety and well-being of a people, wouldn’t you look for qualities such as principled, honest, honorable, truthful, respectable, tough-minded, discerning, not compromising on public policy issues, not swayed by special interest groups and money. One who is seeking the good of the nation, not what is politically expedient.
If our country’s survival is at stake due to leadership fraud and a growing sense that the leadership on both sides of the aisle doesn’t have the security and well-being of the nation in mind, wouldn’t it make sense for its leadership to insist upon an individual who had quality traits that included the above – and who feared God rather than man.
The wrong choice for the high position of Speaker of the House (third in command should the president be incapacitated, or removed from office – President, Vice-President, Speaker of the House) would give us another year of no checks or balances for the next fifteen months.
Some might ask “Aren’t you being a little dramatic?”
If House leadership gives us a politician instead of a statesman standing up for and within the context of the U.S. Constitution, raise that question two years from now.
Friends: It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to recognize that the very survival of America is at stake. Oh, it may exist in name, but its freedoms are under attack like never before in our life-times.
May God have mercy upon America once again.
This country doesn’t deserve God’s mercy. . May God spare this nation because of the earnest praying of a remnant of faithful men, women, and children.
