A revolutionary act

By: American Decency Staff

"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."
– George Orwell

You be the judge:  Are the following statements conveyors of truth or of deceit?

Pornography is a victimless crime.

What is pornographic to you may be art to another.

Islam is a religion of peace.

With Obamacare (The Affordable Care Act) you may keep your doctor and your costs will go down.

A fetus is just a glob of tissue.

Our gender is not based in biology but in whatever we choose it to be.

By negotiating a nuclear deal that assures that Iran will be able to enlarge its nuclear capability, (even though America is decreasing its nuclear arsenal), the world will be a much safer place.

It‘s a compassionate thing to do to open your national borders to any and all (without vetting anyone).

Sharia law is very similar to the U.S. Constitution.

If you rightly said these are deceitful statements, many would accuse you of being a hate-monger.  You would be told that you are the one blind to truth.   Just as I am told by a man named Donald who emails me nearly every time I write an email telling me that I am living a lie.

Case in point: This writing from September 11.

Once again Bill you think that your unfounded beliefs are true for everyone and you can’t understand why anyone would not believe what you do. For starters you have no subjective (I think he actually meant objective) evidence for your beliefs, you simply believe them without reason. Then you seem to think that everyone should have to bow down to your particular set of beliefs.

Further from yesterday:  It’s sad Bill, your delusion are deepening.  Your god, nor any gods don’t exist and all of your rantings are simply nonsense.

As you can quickly see, he is hostile to Christianity.  I shared my testimony with him months ago. He responded by letting me know he went to church growing up. His hostility against Christ seems to grow and grow.   Perhaps some of you might pray for him.  He seems like a pretty good guy.

Once I was blind as Donald tells me I am.  But, what he thinks is silly is that – now I see.  That’s what the old hymn says:  Once I was blind but now I can see the light of the world is Jesus.   More importantly:  that’s what the Bible says.

Jesus is the light and in being saved the veil of darkness has been removed.

With being able to see is an increased ability to be discerning.

Pornography victimless?  That’s a lie from the pit of hell.  Pornography addicts.  Pornography degrades.  Pornography enslaves, destroys marriages and can even lead to death.

I could go down the list at the top and discuss the lying, deceitful nature of each of those statements listed above.

In saying this, we all struggle with sin, and will until the day our lives come to an end.   Perfection, as we all know, will not be found in any person.

Nonetheless, when God saves a person, God begins a work within that individual and continues that work until He takes him/her home.

Upon salvation, discernment between right and wrong, truth and deceit, should mark that believer as the years go by.

People are living in darkness, failing to discern/know the difference between what is God-glorifying and what is not.  What is truth and what is a lie.

That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Philippians 2:15

In saying all of this, we are often reminded not to look to man but look to God.  We are all mere flesh and bone.  The flesh is immensely weak.  We are marked by sin.  So we must battle against our very own sin.  Nonetheless, though the Bible reminds us that we must fight, it also makes it clear that God is gracious, merciful, loving, and patient.

None of us can fight the fight of faith without the power of God living and working within us.  Are you saved?  Do you know Christ as Lord and Savior?  If not, call upon His mighty name. Acknowledge Christ as the Son of God, confess your sins.  Receive Him as your Savior and Lord.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”   John 8:12

Know this, however, that in identifying with Christ in salvation, He calls us to identify and join with Him in suffering.

“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
John 15:18-19

Sign up and join as we discuss this at our headquarters on Friday- Saturday, October 16 and 17 for our conference entitled:  “Rising Tide”.

Four pastors will be helping us address questions as:

What does the Bible say about this: "I am sending you out as Sheep in the Midst of Wolves"

Who are the wolves of our generation?

What does the Bible say about persecution?

What are some possible scenarios where persons may face persecution?

What does the Bible say about blessing those who persecute you?

How should a Christian conduct himself when in a family reunion setting one of the family secularists says derogatory things about God, marriage, the Bible?

How should a Christian young person or college student respond when a teacher propagates homosexuality and marriage and basically belittles that student’s faith?
