Who’s War Weary?

By: American Decency Staff

Yesterday’s Washington Post published a lengthy – and alarming – assessment of the condition of the 2.6 million Americans who fought in Aghanistan and Iraq.

According to a poll conducted by the Post and the Kaiser Family Foundation, more than half of those who served in those wars are now struggling with physical or mental problems arising from their service, often for more than one tour in combat.

Many are unable to get the medical care they need.  Others are finding it difficult to find employment or otherwise to adjust to a civilian world that seems not to understand, or be willing to help address, the sacrifices that may afflict them for the rest of their lives.

We’re told Americans are “war-weary.” These heroes are the only ones entitled to feel that way.
