What is family?
Is there a more important question to ponder in our era? The answer that would have once been considered common sense – a daddy and mommy who love each other and their kiddos – is increasingly uncommon and even obsolete.
Conservatives are fond of saying that "families are the building blocks of society," but our society's definition is fluid and intenable. What we would consider "broken families" would be considered normal to the average American. To the detriment of everyone involved, more and more kids are being raised in single parent households, all the while being brought up in a culture that preaches that having two moms or two dads – or even one dad and, say, three moms – is just a matter of preference.
Of course, most single mothers and fathers do the best that they can to raise great, well adjusted kids, but are divided households and visitation schedules really ideal?
The answer to the question, "what is family?" these days is, "it's complicated."
Into this confusion steps that champion for the traditional families, Focus on the Family.
In their new movie, "Irreplaceable", Focus examines the shifting cultural view of family, and holds it up to the natural family unit.
How does our view of family affect our world? Isn't the traditional family an idea worth holding on to?
American Decency would like to invite you to come see for yourself this encouraging film that reminds us how God can work in and through our families.
We will be showing "Irreplaceable" this Friday, September 19 at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM at our offices at 203 E Main St. in Fremont and we would love to see you there.
