U.S. Chamber of Commerce will oppose tea party candidates

Thomas J. Donohue, the Chamber of Commerce’s president and chief executive can take all the “pains” he wants in speaking carefully. But make no mistake, he and the chamber will not be our friends. They are going all in on big government Republicans. They will buy their corporate carve outs and special deals; however, government will continue to grow at the expense of the individual. In effect, big money buys big government and that’s what’s going on here.

Donohue took pains to avoid a broad swipe at the tea party. But in his speech, and at a news conference that followed, he made clear that the Chamber would target some members of the movement.”In primaries and in the general election, we will support candidates who want to work within the legislative process to solve the nations problems — and who understand that business is not the problem, business is a big part of the solution,” he said.
