This is Our Time to Speak

I was listening yesterday to U.S. Rep. Jeff Sessions, in his passionate but kind and gentlemanly way, opposing President Obama’s unconstitutional push for illegal immigration. 

"Push back!  Stand up.  Speak.  Fight.  Go against the tide."

Where are such men and women as Jeff Sessions, Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Louis Gohmert, Ted Cruz …. 

There are many more.  Your time may be yet to come to shine especially brightly.

I consider occasions when God stood with me as I stood against the tide.  In my weakness, He made me strong. 

Read the account of the Apostle Paul taken before the Council (Acts 23:11-15) – detested, whipped, beaten, imprisoned, and vilified.

"The following night the Lord stood by him and said, 'Take courage, for as you have testified to the facts about me in Jerusalem, so you must testify also in Rome.'

When it was day, the Jews made a plot and bound themselves by an oath neither to eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. There were more than forty who made this conspiracy. They went to the chief priests and elders and said, 'We have strictly bound ourselves by an oath to taste no food till we have killed Paul. Now therefore you, along with the council, give notice to the tribune to bring him down to you, as though you were going to determine his case more exactly. And we are ready to kill him before he comes near.'"

As Christians, we are being confronted with increasing levels of godlessness at the highest levels which leak down into our lives and into the lives of the ones we love.

This is a TIME TO SPEAK.

Oswald Chambers (My Utmost for His Highest) in his December 4 devotional stated:

Life without war is impossible in the natural or the supernatural realm. It is a fact that there is a continuing struggle in the physical, mental, moral, and spiritual areas of life. …

Jesus went on to say, “…but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” I must learn to fight against and overcome the things that come against me, and in that way produce the balance of holiness. Then it becomes a delight to meet opposition.

Guest-speakers for the service included George Michael, an Egyptian Christian and consultant to various United States government agencies, and Chaim Shacham, consul general of Israel to Florida and Puerto Rico. Michael provided the attendees, details of forced conversions to Islam, torture, rape and murder of Christians in Egypt, Syria, and Iraq and also spoke of the role of Saudi officials in the spread of hatred of non-Muslims. Shacham compared the indifference of the world to the current plight of Christians in Arab countries to what happened to the Jewish people during World War II and also pointed out that the only Christian community in the Middle East that is actually growing is in Israel.
