So much despair yet — God is not dead

By: American Decency Staff

In recent weeks, I have sensed and seen the hand of God in powerful ways in my life and in this ministry here at American Decency Association.

This past weekend at our headquarters in rural Fremont, Michigan we showed “God’s Not Dead” (available for licensed showing).

One hundred tencame for the Friday afternoon matinee showing.  Many were moved by the strength and theme of the movie – “God’s Not Dead;”  rather He is alive and doing His work powerfully and personally in those who know Him and take Him at His word!!

We also had an evening showing of God’s Not Dead” where over two hundred came.  At least twenty had to be turned away due to the limited seating in our small auditorium.

Again, the evening ended with many encouraged by the Holy Spirit.

At the completion of the event after closing in prayer, a man at the back raised his hand with urgency.  I recognized him as one who had attended other events we’ve hosted in the past.   I could see that he had something to tell the audience.

He came forward and I gave him a microphone, seeing he wanted to talk.

In a very concise but Spirit-led testimony, he spoke about the power of salvation in his life, that he had been an alcoholic for many years and God had set him free!

In such a grandfatherly way, he called out to those in the audience urging them to know Christ – to come to Him in faith that they would be saved from the bondages of sin.

The urgency, the sweetness, the sincerity flowed from this humble man of God!  The move of God – the sense of God’s presence in this place.

How can we each get that sense of God’s presence? By feeding on the Word of God.  Seeking to walk in His ways day by day.  Meditating upon His word regularly.  May God help us to look to Him daily for spiritual strength.

Below are several Biblical verses and quotes that feed and encourage our hearts for such a time as this.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation. Selah
~ Psalm 68:19

… Where deed of mine can help to make this world a better place for men to live in, where word of mine can cheer a despondent heart or brace a weak will, where prayer of mine can serve the extension of Christ's Kingdom, there let me do and speak and pray.
~ John Baille, Diary of Private Prayer

No Regrets on Your Death Bed

We should endeavor, like John the Baptist, to provide for the future spiritual welfare of those we leave behind when we die. We should often remind those who we cannot always be with them. We should often urge them to beware of the broad way, when we are taken from them, and they are left alone in the world. We should spare no pains to make all, who in any way look up to us, acquainted with Christ. Happy are those ministers and parents, whose consciences can testify on their death-beds, that they have told their hearers and children to go to Jesus and follow Him!
~ J.C. Ryle
