“Red and yellow black and white they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little (and big) children of the world.”
This morning I was listeningto Dr. Albert Mohler (President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky) discuss the Ferguson response (the rioters – that is) to the special Grand Jury decision not to indict officer Darren Wilson as he responded to the lawlessness of Michael Brown resulting in gun fire and the death of Michael Brown.
One of Mohler’s main points was that a grand jury is the fruit of a civilized society and that the maligning of the grand jury is an attack upon a civilized society and its justice system.
Why do they want to stir hatred and degradation?
Reports on CNN last night estimated the crowd of protestors at 500. My wife made the comment “That isn’t so many people when you consider the population base.” And when you consider all of the months of controversy stirred up by the above rabble rousers including even Eric Holder, President Obama’s U.S. Attorney General.
I see it that way, too. With all the efforts to enflame people by the likes of Sharpton and Jackson and others (purportedly Islamist groups, too, have contributed to the acidity of the atmosphere in and around Ferguson in recent days).
As one person commented on Twitter:
“The prosecutor is trying to make a case that is based in logic to a mob incapable of understanding the concept (of logic).”
Peter Schiff on Twitter: “Ferguson protestors outraged because an innocent man was not indicted for a crime evidence and eyewitness testimony prove he did not commit.”
I recall on more than one occasion hearing commentaries on the radio from different talk show hosts discussing the uniqueness of America, our Constitution, the Bill of Rights, our many freedoms, the fact that the vast majority of American citizens do abide by the law of the land.
The discussions included comments stating that we were a citizenry that accepted peaceably the outcomes of our elections whether we agreed with the outcome or not.
We as a law-abiding people don’t take to the streets, destroy other persons property and/or take to the sword or gun on such occasions.
In closing, many of us are troubled in our hearts and minds by those who have a bent upon stirring division between blacks and whites. The names of Al Sharpton and the so-called Rev. Jesse Jackson immediately come to mind.
Prayer is needed now and onward.
Pray for the families of both the deceased Michael Brown’s family and for officer Darren Wilson and his family.
Pray, too, that God will use Ferguson to help each of us work for racial unity; value and uphold our legal system; and support law enforcement officers who daily risk their lives to serve and protect.
Lastly, a reminder for all of us.
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience. Romans 13:1-5
