Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette said he urges the U.S. Supreme Court to resolve the issue of same-sex marriages "as quickly as possible."
The Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals announced Tuesday it had granted the state's request to stay the ruling that struck down Michigan's gay marriage ban. During a reelection campaign stop in Grand Rapids, Schuette said he expected the stay to happen.
The order prohibits same-sex couples from applying for marriage licenses and calls this past weekend's marriages into question.
