Join us for “Unstoppable”

One of the hardest questions often asked by both Christians and non-believers is 'if God is good, why does He allow bad things to happen?'

There are no easy or immediate answers to that question, because the answer requires a theological framework that unbelievers don't have and that Christians need to constantly be reminded of.

That framework is the big picture shown by the Bible from Creation to the Crucifixion to the future coming of the New Heavens and New Earth.

In short, people are responsible for their own sin which causes suffering and God is the Hero who comes to save us from ourselves.

The story is an epic which show the mercy, grace, and goodness of our God, not an exposé of a deity who is powerless to save or enjoys the pain of his creation.

Our character in the story is not the victim and we are certainly not the hero, but rather we are the villain who offended the glory and goodness of our Creator. He is the Hero for not only forgiving us, but for executing a plan to restore us completely to our position as His people.

That's a big topic to tackle in film, but Fireproof star Kirk Cameron was up to the task. In his latest movie due out on DVD on January 28, Cameron steps up to the plate to dig into the answer of one of life's hardest questions.

Here's what he had to say about his project, "It's easy to get excited about your faith when things are going well in your life. But when your whole world comes crashing down on you, the questions start: 'Where is God when I need him most? Why do bad things happen to good people?' UNSTOPPABLE is a journey, based on a true story, that has become the most personal and transparent project I have ever made regarding my faith.”

I saw this movie when it was in theaters and was blown away by how it went so far past the usual "Sunday School answers" into the juicy meat of the Bible, bringing me to think about some well-known Bible stories very differently.

ADA is blessed with the opportunity to show this film to you before it comes out on DVD later this month and we hope you will take advantage of that chance! We would love to have you join us in our little theater here at the American Decency offices. Admission, of course, will be free and we'll have a chance to fellowship together after the movie. We will be showing “Unstoppable” on January 24th at 1:00 and 7:00PM.

We hope to see you there!
