“Is there not a cause?” David, the shepherd boy

By: American Decency Staff

Last night a couple of families, along with mine, watched the movie “Last Ounce of Courage”.   [a great family movie to show during this Fourth of July “season” ]

As the movie was coming to an end, the father, the mayor of the town, took a stand for freedom and liberty in his community against the ACLU types who were trying to expunge the displaying of a  Christmas display from the public square.

The Christian mayor (not ashamed of the Gospel) took a stand while many held back though you knew that the majority of the community was in agreement with the mayor’s stand for freedom.

The freedom to celebrate Christmas in the public square (as long as other religions had the freedom to display their religious symbols) was under attack!

Why did these folks hold back until it was clear that others shared their view?

Editor’s note:  The town people even knew the mayor had lost his young son on the frontlines fighting for freedom.  Together we observed: The movie sadly showed how it often is. One stands up.  Others wait and wait and never stand up and righteousness is trampled under.

Young David came upon the Israelite camp and noted the cowering, timid ways of his fellow Israelites as he witnessed first-hand Goliath threatening David’s countrymen

In I Samuel 17:8-11

He stood and shouted to the ranks of Israel, “Why have you come out to draw up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and are you not servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me.  If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will be your servants. But if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall be our servants and serve us.”  And the Philistine said, “I defy the ranks of Israel this day. Give me a man, that we may fight together.” When Saul and all Israel heard these words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.

I love the words here of shepherd boy David: at I Samuel 17: “Is there not a cause?”  KJV

My friends:  DO I NEED TO TELL YOU???  There is a cause!!  You and I don’t face (presently) a  literal Goliath out in the field or our local village or city, but we do face a “Goliath”.  WE DO.

That GOLIATH is godlessness, secularism, paganism, alinskiitism, communism, Islamism.  AND “HE”  IS GROWING AND ON THE MOVE.

Need  I say more?

By now you know, we won a victory in the Supreme Court today – the decision regarding Hobby Lobby – “Today the court ruled 5-to-4 that Hobby Lobby and other closely held businesses cannot be forced to subsidize abortion-inducing drugs in violation of their deeply held religious beliefs.” G. Bauer

Quoting Gary Bauer today in his “End of Day”

It would be a terrible mistake to assume that the battle over religious liberty is over. Quite the contrary. The left and its allies are attacking our values non-stop. Bakers, florists, photographers are being forced to participate in same-sex weddings. That fight is still very much alive and was not addressed in today's narrow opinion

The left has critical mass. The attack on faith is not coming from just big government. Remember how the business community forced Arizona Governor Jan Brewer to veto legislation protecting religious liberty? We must remain vigilant.

Is there not a cause?
