Those of you of a certain generation probably remember the old song,
“Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do.
I'm half crazy all for the love of you.
It won’t be a stylish marriage; I can’t afford a carriage.
But you’ll look sweet, upon the seat of a bicycle built for two.”
However if those pushing to redefine marriage have their way, I don’t think they make bicycles with enough seats. At least not for Kody Brown and his four “wives” from the TLC show “Sister Wives.”
Sunday night TLC aired the season premiere of “Sister Wives.” The “family” featured in Sister Wives goes to great lengths to present the so-called benefits of group marriage, trying to shake the stigma of polygamy and portray it as just a normal lifestyle choice.

Since the show debuted in the fall of 2010, polygamy has been portrayed as an acceptable “alternative lifestyle” – bent on loosening taboos and attempting to make acceptable that which is not.
However, demonstrating that the law of God is written on the hearts of all humankind, it seems as if the Brown children aren’t buying into the 18 years of indoctrination they’re received. In past episodes many of the older children have rejected the concept of polygamy.
In this episode, when one of the children is asked by her high school friends if she would consider the polygamous lifestyle, she unequivocally says: “I would not be able to share my husband like that! For me it wouldn’t make me happy.”
Finally, the truth comes out! Kind of like the child telling the emperor he has no clothes, these kids revealed that the perverted lifestyle they’ve lived under and have been subjected to is bogus.
Innate in our very being, for those whose consciences haven’t been warped and deadened, is a knowledge of right and wrong. And the concept being portrayed by this “family” is certainly unnatural and wrong.
And yet millions of Americans who sit under the teaching of Hollywood, are having their consciences slowly snuffed out so that they no longer recognize right from wrong, truth from falsehood.
On one Internet message board, one viewer of “Sister Wives” asked people what they think about polygamy. Here is a sampling of the comments:
– If all the wives are consenting adults, why not? I don't have a problem with polygamy, or bigamy or any other marriage that isn't the standard man and wife. As long as it involves consenting adults, who cares?
– It's extremely common in the middle east…. Personally I wouldn’t allow it but each person to their own.
– I find it interesting. And really, is it that much of a stretch?
I have a roommate (my best friend) and a husband. No, they certainly do not sleep together, but if I'm at work, she cooks dinner, we alternate chores and she helps me raise my boys. I don't think it's odd, but people are so quick to judge. …
– I guess this is what makes the world go round. Each to their own. I just like watching it.
– I've seen the show and find it interesting. Consenting adults should be able to do whatever they want. I have no problem with polyamorous relationships. I would (and have) fight for the rights of grown people to be free to live how they see fit. …
– I’m fine with how they live if it makes them happy.
I would guess that before the show “Sister Wives” was created and polygamy/group marriage was known only as a practice by a fringe cult of manipulative, abusive men and brain-washed women with long braids and even longer dresses, most people would not say “to each his own,” but would be repulsed by polygamy and the thought of sharing their spouse with another.
What power in television to indoctrinate this generation! From “Sister Wives” to “The New Normal” the Great Deceiver is using these tools to attack the God-ordained institution of marriage and convince millions that “as long as it involves consenting adults, who cares?”
We care. We care when the God-ordained institution of marriage is attacked and undermined. Will you stand with us in holding accountable the advertisers that empower the destructive message of “Sister Wives?”
