The polygamy push back – take action now!

The reality show “Sister Wives,â€Â which showcases an actual polygamist family – a husband with four “wivesâ€Â and sixteen children – returned for another season on the cable television network, TLC.  Thumbing its nose at traditional marriage and family, TLC purposely timed the first episode of this new season to air on Mother’s Day. We began monitoring “Sister Wivesâ€Â when it premiered nearly two years ago and quickly saw how polygamy was positively portrayed – swaying undiscerning viewers with the sympathetic plea for acceptance for “the poor, misunderstood polygamistsâ€Â – depicting this aberrant lifestyle as just a “normalâ€Â family.  The ‘family’ featured in “Sister Wivesâ€Â goes to great lengths to present the so-called benefits of plural marriage, trying to shake the stigma of polygamy and portray group marriage as acceptable. One of the major sponsors of this week’s episode of “Sister Wivesâ€Â was the S.C. Johnson Company, advertising their products Windex, Raid, and Scrubbing Bubbles cleaner.  You might recognize the tagline S.C. Johnson uses at the end of their commercials – “S.C. Johnson, A family company.â€Â Is polygamy the type of “familyâ€Â they support?  Their advertising seems to indicate the answer is yes. Other sponsors include:  Duncan Hines, Hershey’s, Burger King, Ford, PepsiCo products (Sierra Mist and Quaker Oats), Centrum vitamins, Arm & Hammer, Advil, Bissell, and Ford. Click here to send a message to the corporations empowering the legitimization of polygamy with their sponsorship of “Sister Wives.â€Â There’s been a lot of focus lately on gay marriage as President Obama has given his “stamp of approvalâ€Â to men marrying men and women marrying women.  As the attack upon the institution of marriage intensifies, if gay marriage is deemed acceptable, polygamy certainly could be as well.  For what is to stop the redefinition of marriage to any combination of people if we as a nation rebel against what God has ordained? I came across a blogger writing about “Sister Wivesâ€Â after the show originally premiered, who commented: “… I've talked with a lot of people about the Sister Wives phenomenon. Everybody seems to have a similar progression of disgust-curiosity-entertainment-acceptance-critique. After watching the show, it's hard to argue that these women aren't happy and getting positive benefits from polygamy. … hey, this is how their faith dictates it works, and this is how they elected to raise their family.â€Â As people are inundated with a mantra of “tolerance and acceptanceâ€Â of any and all lifestyles – no matter how perverse – they obviously lose their capacity to distinguish between right and wrong.  Notice the blogger above claiming she (and others) were initially disgusted, but then came to accept polygamy from watching “Sister Wives.â€ÂÂ Â  This is how we get to the point where the definition of marriage and family is undermined. One by one people are desensitized to Truth.  And as hearts and minds become undiscerning, gay marriage and polygamy become accepted as “alternativeâ€Â lifestyles instead of what they are – sinful lifestyles. Of course polygamists would support gay marriage for they recognize that the next logical step would be to validate polygamy.  The polygamist family featured on TLC’s “Sister Wivesâ€Â recognizes this. As Fox News recently reported:  “… prominent polygamists the Brown family of TLC’s “Sister Wivesâ€Â – consisting of Kody and his wives Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn – gave their 10 thumbs up to same sex nups. “It is something I have thought about a lot, and I feel very blessed that I have been able to choose love and the life that I want to live and be married to the people that I want to be married to. It’s not for me to decide or stop anyone else from marrying the person they love,â€Â Kody told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column, while Janelle added that she too feels blessed to have chosen love from deep in her heart, and wishes the same for others regardless of sexual orientation.â€Â And while some may say this one television show won’t singlehandedly undermine traditional marriage – it certainly is a huge step in that direction.  Twenty years ago we wouldn’t have envisioned the fight we face today against those pushing for gay marriage.  What will we face twenty years from now? Polygamy an outlandish thing in America? Think again.  Don't let big corporations such as those named above think that they are getting a free pass and that nobody cares.  Show you care now.
