Pray. Vote. Pray and LIVE

Tomorrow, we will be a little over three years away from hearing the next campaign commercial. We can stop glaring at candidate bumper stickers and Facebook will go back to being about the important things like who got stuck in traffic and what we had for dinner.

No matter how the election turns out, half of the nation will be terrified and half will be thrilled, but we will have a pretty good idea of what we can expect – except for the people on Twitter who are convinced they are going to the cotton fields if Romney wins. But just knowing what's coming will be a relief to some extent.

Tomorrow, America will breathe a consecutive sigh of relief that this thing is over and we are 4 years away from the next presidential battlefield.

Yet, we will still have work to do. As Sun Tzu said, “The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.”  The battle for morality and conservatism will never be won by any election. It will only be won by the millions of Christians and conservatives influencing the people we come in contact with every day.

If we want to live in a country where killing babies is recognized as evil whether they are inside the womb or outside, where marriage is held as a covenant of unity before God and sex is exclusive to that relationship, where pornography isn't taped to the windows of shopping malls, where people work for their paycheck and voluntarily help those who cannot, we can't get there by electing any candidate. That can only be accomplished through us being as salty and bright as we can be.

But having a president who is not opposed to all those positions would help.

Today America will decide whether we will have a president friendly to our beliefs or not. But every day it is up to us to decide whether we will live by those beliefs or succumb to a culture which does not recognize any moral code but what they happen to be feeling at any given time.

We've seen a great motto for the election going around: “Pray. Vote. Pray.” I would add, “Live.” Let the people around us in our daily lives see that we aren't the judgmental theocratic bigots we are stereotyped to be. We are just broken people trying to honor God who want His best for our nation.

Tomorrow, America will (hopefully) know who will lead us for the next four years. But the spiritual war will still be bubbling underneath the surface. That is the war we can't afford to lose.
