FOX TV: disgusting Sunday shows and Yum brands

By: American Decency Staff
We’ve alerted you before about Fox TV’s animated shows, “Family Guy,” “American Dad,” and “The Cleveland Show.”    It’s no secret that these cartoons have nothing to do with family – other than to undermine the values taught by millions of parents – and nothing to do with traditional American ideals except to attack and erode them.

We know when we monitor each episode we’ll find another assault upon the family and common standards of decency. The specifics might vary, but the overall content remains the same. Rife with profanity, vulgar dialogue, extremely crude sexual themes, and gratuitous violence, each episode is a new variation of the same repulsive, sexualized theme.   With seemingly no limits to the perversity, this trio of shows readily promotes it to the millions of youth who watch.    And, disturbingly, these three foul shows are watched by millions of youth. In fact, it has been reported that “Family Guy” is one of the most watched shows by children six to eleven years old!

Advertisers include: Pizza Hut, KFC, McDonald’s, Pepsi, Kraft Foods, Subway, Sony Play Station, Microsoft, Sprint, Samsung, Verizon, T-Mobile.

In addition to the offensive content, Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show also have a couple of other things in common. The three are created and produced by Seth MacFarlane. It will come as no surprise that MacFarlane is an outspoken supporter of gay marriage, the legalization of marijuana, and is a proponent of atheism. MacFarlane uses these three shows as a bully pulpit to promote his secular, leftist ideologies, regularly mocking Christianity and Biblical ethics. He is also a frequent speaker on college campuses, further pushing his agenda to undermine faith and morality.

And while this trio shares a common creator and agenda, they also have something else in common – the advertiser Yum Brands. (Yum Brands is the corporation that owns Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, Long John Silver’s, and A&W.) Take a look at the advertising history of these three shows and you will see Yum Brands is a very frequent and long-time sponsor of MacFarlane’s shows. As an example, this past Sunday night Yum Brands sponsored all three shows – Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show – with ads for Pizza Hut and KFC.

Yum Brands has been on ADA’s radar for years as a regular sponsor of trash TV. We communicated with the company over their sponsorship of Desperate Housewives when that show premiered in 2004. After months of communications, Yum Brands stated they were pulling all advertising from Desperate Housewives, only to break their word weeks later.

Yum Brands, a corporation which continually over many years promotes programming and content that undermines faith and family, is not a company worthy of being supported.
