Despicable shows – let advertisers know!

By: American Decency Staff

There’s a new trend on television these days.  For years Hollywood has stooped to crude, salacious, bathroom humor coming from the mouths of lecherous male characters on shows such as Two and a Half Men.  However, the new breed of TV shows has leading “ladiesâ€Â spouting endless vulgarities – shows such as 2 Broke Girls on CBS and Are You There, Chelsea? on NBC. This week’s episode of 2 Broke Girls began with a crude “jokeâ€Â about KY lubricant and ended with a segment on transsexuals and male genitalia.  In between were dozens of smutty innuendos and scatological references to lewd sex acts. However, 2 Broke Girls has now sunk even lower.  In this latest episode they used children – two 13–year-old Orthodox Jewish boys – to spout, sexual, obscene dialogue. Take action! We also urge you to forward this to your family and friends asking them to express their concern, as well. Continue reading below: Below is just one example of the many vulgar lines spoken by the two innocent-looking 13 year-olds as they try to convince the two lead female characters to strip for them and show their breasts. "D–n, sweetness, your mouth is moving but your  a– is talking… How much of my mitzvah money is it going to take for you to pop that top and serve me up some superfine tay-tays?â€Â “How ‘bout you turn yourself around and make it pop for Daddy?". Remember, the show’s creators and producers are now using children spew this filth! In addition, the episode took aim at stereotyping religion in their portrayal of this Jewish family. At a recent press conference regarding the raunchy sitcom 2 Broke Girls, a verbal “brawlâ€Â broke out between the show’s creator and television reporters/critics who accused the show of stooping to racial stereotypes and profane jokes.  One critic asked:  “Do you see the need to get away from making vagina and anal sex references? And, as the critic pointed out, the show airs during the family hour in early primetime at 8:30 in the evening. The creator of “2 Broke Girlsâ€Â defended the vulgar so-called “humorâ€Â of the show actually describing it as “classy dirtyâ€Â and said “I consider them high-lowbrow. I think they’re fun and sophisticated and naughty and I think everybody likes a good naughty joke . …â€Â Another reporter asked:  “Going back to classy-dirty. Are there restrictions about things you can say? … The show’s creator claimed:  “… sex is a part of comedy writing. We seem to offend people with the use [of] words rather than nudity. … The show’s creator got one thing right – the show is offensive and dirty. However, there is nothing “classy,â€Â “fun,â€Â or “sophisticatedâ€Â about 2 Broke Girls and sex does not need to be a part of comedy writing – it’s simply a lazy substitute for actual creativity. Join us in letting the advertisers know you are one of millions who do not like so-called “naughtyâ€Â jokes, as the 2 Broke Girls creator claimed, and you are outraged at the exploitation of children used to spew sexual dialogue.
