Advertiser pulls from “GCB.” Thank them.

By: American Decency Staff

Our first victory in response to our action alert regarding the offensive ABC show “GCB!â€Â As we reported earlier this week, ABC/Disney’s new show “GCBâ€Â represents one of the most blatant evidences of Christian bigotry, Christian slandering, and the degradation of Christian women ever seen on network television.  See our account here. Thankfully, many of you shared our outrage and have responded to our action alert. One evidence that your emails have already begun to make a difference – Kraft Foods has pulled their ad for Philadelphia Cream Cheese from the show after just one episode! Take action now – first, by giving Kraft your words of support – thanking them for withdrawing from “GCB.â€ÂÂ  Click here to thank Kraft foods. Secondly, if you haven’t yet contacted the sponsors of this concerning show, click here to send a message to the other companies who empowered this derogatory portrayal of Christianity on “GCB,â€Â originally titled “Good Christian B—ches.â€ÂÂ Â  Also, please forward this to your family and friends, urging them to contact the advertisers, as well. According to one news report from Daily Mail Online: “Kraft Foods has decided to pull advertising for its popular Philadelphia Cream Cheese from the controversial ABC television show GCB, which critics say attacks Christianity. “The Chicago-based cream cheese titan says it made the decision after customer complaints began to pile up.â€Â A Kraft Foods representative stated: “Philadelphia has decided to pull its advertising from GCB … We have received a few complaints from consumers and their opinions about our advertising are important to us.â€Â While we’re very pleased that Kraft Foods has pulled their support from “GCB,â€Â notice how Kraft tries to downplay the influence of our united expressions of concern – claiming they’d received a “fewâ€Â complaints.  However, our “take actionâ€Â system tracks how many emails are sent, giving us a record of how many messages advertisers receive. So, we know that Kraft received thousands of emails – not “a few.â€Â Another trick corporations use is to backpedal when a company spokesperson lets it slip the actual reason for their decision to pull – customer pressure, (i.e., consumers’ “opinionsâ€Â about their advertising, as Kraft stated above.)   Corporations don’t want consumers to know the power they have – that companies are fearful of boycotts.  And they don’t want the powerful liberal media to know that they “cavedâ€Â to pressure from traditional America.  And so they issue follow-up statements to back pedal from the original statement – such as the one below, which Kraft issued to backtrack from their first statement above where they acknowledged that it was consumer pressure that got their attention. Now Kraft is stating:  “… The brand has decided to redirect advertising to other programs with an established audience. Although we received a few consumer complaints, this decision was not linked in any way to the content of this particular show.â€Â (emphasis added) Although Kraft might not want to admit it, we know your emails made a difference! And while Kraft may not have pulled their ad for the “rightâ€Â reason – because they see this show for what it is and don’t want to sponsor it – nonetheless,  we do want to thank Kraft Foods for this decision to pull their support from “GCB.â€Â Take action now – first, by giving Kraft your words of support – thanking them for withdrawing from “GCB.â€ÂÂ  Click here to thank Kraft foods. Secondly, if you haven’t yet contacted the sponsors of this concerning show, click here to send a message to the other companies who empowered this derogatory portrayal of Christianity on “GCB,â€Â originally titled “Good Christian B—ches.â€Â I believe you understand that if this evil show continues without tens of thousands of us taking action, corporate advertisers as those who advertised Sunday night will think that it is no big deal to demean Christianity. And so, we also urge you to forward this email to your family and friends, encouraging them to stand with us.  We got the attention of Kraft, with more added to our numbers hopefully we’ll get the attention of other advertisers as well. ========================================================== To support our efforts please click here or mail your gift to American Decency Association (ADA), PO Box 202, Fremont, MI 49412.
