A shocking ad that needs your action!

I would think there’s not much that cable channel MTV would say crosses the line.  MTV has a history of pushing boundaries itself with erotic imagery in music videos and explicit shows geared toward teens and filled with highly irresponsible behavior promoting illicit sex, binge drinking and drugs.

So what would be so graphic that MTV would refuse to air it?  The answer is: the latest salacious Kate Upton commercial.  Both MTV and the adult-themed cable channel Adult Swim, known for its risqué content, have banned a new commercial for street-wear clothing brand Zoo York featuring the teenage model Kate Upton.

First 19-year-old Kate Upton posed provocatively on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition, including numerous topless shots within the degrading magazine.  She then chose the highly erotic Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr. ad for her next pornographic display of her body. (See our alert)

Now Upton is featured in an explicit ad for Zoo York, which, in addition to the sexualized content, ends with a profanity-filled rant using the F-word and other extreme profanities.

The 19-year-old model’s latest ad, for streetwear label Zoo York, has been banned from MTV and Turner Entertainment’s, Adult Swim Network. …

In the ad two cockroaches are talking to each other but they are talking about two different sights.

One is talking about two men skateboarding, while the other thinks they’re talking about Kate, who is exercising right in front of them in her Lycra outfit.

The rather innocent conversation becomes quite crude when misinterpreted by the cockroach that has spotted Kate.

As she makes her way into the skating area, the cockroach one says: ‘Yo, how would you like to grind that thing?’

Of course, he’s referring to a metal bar that the skateboarders are grinding along, however the camera focuses on Kate just as cockroach two says: ‘I would LOVE to grind that thing!’

Later, cockroach one says: ‘It doesn’t even look like it needs to be waxed.’

To which cockroach two replies: ‘Oh, it definitely needs to be waxed.’

As the double-sided conversation continues Kate starts to jog, just as the skaters head towards the cockroaches.

Cockroach one warns the other: ‘Look out bro, they’re coming this way!’

But, still hypnotised by Kate’s bouncing bosom, cockroach two says: ‘Yeah they are, come to Daddy!’

And he is subsequently splattered as the lid of the rubbish bin they’re perched on closes.

He then launches into an expletive-laden rant which cannot be repeated.

Other reviews have labeled the ad as “patently offensive” and “too risqué.”

However, while this ad is so explicit and profane that even MTV and Adult Swim refused to air it, Upton defends appearing in the ad, stating:  “This was such a funny commercial! Who knew cockroaches were so racy and hilarious? Definitely a must-see!”

Sadly, 19-year-old Kate Upton doesn’t seem to realize the damage she is doing to herself, as well as to all young girls and women, by her pornographic displays.  As she sells her body to be leered at by men and boys, she sends a message to girls and women that they must degrade themselves to gain approval – that their worth is dependent upon perfectly proportioned body parts.  And, she is damaging those men and boys using her as an object of lust as they are taught that it’s okay to use, degrade, and disrespect women.  These types of so-called “soft-porn” images are proven to be initial stepping stones, leading men and boys into destructive pornography addictions.

If we sit back and don’t speak out as such pornographic imagery fills our culture, our silence will only lead to further degradation and shocking ads such as this Kate Upton commercial will become even more common place.
