What does Satan have that the Church doesn't? I think this is the answer: persistence. Devotion to the cause. Think about this. In 1986, the Supreme Court ruled in Bowers v. Hardwick that there was no Constitutional right to homosexuality. However, the homosexual activists continued to push until the landmark Lawrence v. Texas case in 2003 which ruled that Texas' anti-sodomy laws were unconstitutional because it violated the Due Process clause of the 14th Amendment. As a prescient USA Today article noted at the time, "The ruling also could help gay men and lesbians in legal disputes that arise from moral disapproval, whether on the job, in child-custody cases or over inheritance claims." As we can see today, Lawrence v. Texas opened the door for a lot more than that. Gay marriage has been legalized in several states and is being pushed all over the country through the courts. This in spite of the fact that citizens have made it clear in the voting booth that they do not want a redefinition of marriage or to be forced to accept homosexuality as an "alternative lifestyle." Another example comes from this MSNBC article: "More Companies Covering Transgender Surgery. …With little fanfare, more and more large companies, including Cocal-Cola, Campbell Soup, and Walt Disney, have expanded their insurance coverage to meet the needs of transgender workers. The trend follows a concerted push by transgender rights advocates to get employers and insurers to see sex reassignment the way the American Medical Association does – as a medically indicated rather than optional procedure." Add to that the decision of the Mona Shores, Michigan school board to dissolve the tradition of gender-specific positions of King and Queen on the Prom Court so that a transgender girl would be able to be voted to represent the class. The LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) advocates' persistence has clearly paid off. Here's another example of the persistence shown by our amoral cultural opponents: AshleyMadison.com The website designed specifically to match cheating husband with cheating wives in an effort to make adultery a little bit less of a hassle. Another MSNBC article tells of the unusual problems AshleyMadison.com creator Noel Biderman has marketing his website, including FOX refusing to air the company's Super Bowl commercial; having to reach out to the smaller market of unfaithful wives in order to try to match the number of cheating husbands; and AshleyMadison's inability to buy their brand as a key word in search engines. Yet again, Biderman refuses to take the hint that his type of company is not wanted. Persistence. We could do this all day. MTV's show 'Skins' – the ratings continue to drop from their 3.2 million viewer premier to less than a million viewers in 5 episodes with only one actual advertiser (Clearasil) remaining on the show. Again, "take a hint!" Abortion, creationism, prayer in schools, Biblical manhood and womanhood, pornographic or (at best) near pornographic magazines at checkout counters, anti-Christian sentiment on television, distribution of pornography, etc. These are all battles we have lost for one simple reason. We gave up when our opponents didn't. Can you imagine if Christians had the passion for following our God that Muslims, for instance, have for theirs? Even if you choose to put Islamic terrorists in a separate camp from the "moderate Muslims," to have the courage to stand out in every crowd you've ever been in because of your 7th century clothes or your goofy looking beard, let alone to strap on a bomb and blow yourself to bits because you think your god told you to, takes a lot of devotion. What if Christians had that kind of devotion? What could we do? ——————————————————————————————————————— Your support is important to our ability to make a difference.
