People who care enough to speak up right where they are

People who still care about indecency at the checkouts, at the mall, at the convenience and gas station still do exist and always will. Last week I received a telephone call from a man heavy-hearted and vocal regarding the disgusting store in his local mall near Chicago.  The gift shop that he was referencing was Spencer’s Gift.  He went on to express indignation regarding Victoria’s Secret’s youth angle – “the Pink lineâ€Â. Below is a recent email from a mother from the Minneapolis area stepping up and organizing others to speak out against the pornography of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition at her local Walgreens and Publix. Hello American Decency, I want to thank you again for the contact information for Walgreens.  A group of us moms contacted them concerning the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and they removed the magazine out of children's view.  We also contacted our local Publix and they have covered the magazine.  We've asked both to simply stop carrying this issue, but keeping it out of sight is at least a start.  It seems like a constant struggle to fight pornography in our daily lives. I was planning on visiting Mall of America with some of my friends this spring, and so we went on their website to look at their shops and dining options.  To our surprise, we found that there is a Hooters restaurant on the top floor of Mall of America.  We contacted the Mall of America, only to receive replies stating that most people don't know the [restaurant] is there, and that many women enjoy dining at Hooters as well.  This was enough to make us change our plans!  We are in disbelief that a "restaurant" that sells sex would be inside of a mall!  We have found the contact information for them, so others can be aware of this! http://www.mallofamerica.com/connect/ They are apparently owned by company called "Triple Five"  http://www.triplefive.com/. Quite a few of us are writing to them, to let them know that we do not appreciate encouraging lust within a place that is supposed to be for FAMILIES!!!
