NPR, liberalism, taxes and future things

By: American Decency Staff

By Bill Johnson Months ago a relative of mine told me that he listened to National Public Radio because it was the only place that he could find objective reporting. Nothing could be further from the truth.  NPR has been left-leaning for decades.  I caringly challenged him on his observation. I don’t have time to explore the origins of National Public Radio and how it came to be supported by taxpayer dollars.  Yet, here we have another case of a highly influential, left leaning organization vigorously supported by liberals –  rightfully contested by conservatives. One can only imagine how liberals would feel about having their tax dollars supporting radio programming like Fox News,  for example. The lines of demarcation grow deeper and wider seemingly every day in America. I long for the day when goodness, righteousness, graciousness and fair-mindedness once again prevail. Honestly, I don’t know how we are ever going to get out of this long cycle of the aggressive jockeying for position in which we find ourselves and the accompanying angst surrounding it. As a Christian (first) and a conservative (second), it is very difficult to give ground to those who would bury us in smut, deeper debt, homosexuality and same sex marriages, socialism, Obamcare, sharia law, etc. I can’t understand those who represent the other side as they can’t understand me.  How can anyone be supportive of killing the unborn or promoting lifestyles that the history of mankind documents as deleterious, aberrant, and decadent (homosexuality)? Not that many years ago this culture was overwhelmingly supportive of the Ten Commandments. God was acknowledged as God.  The Bible was regarded as the Word of God – worthy of being submitted to, read and obeyed. With perfect sincerity, there is no other way to turn for healing, help and hope than to God and His Word. In closing, here is a portion of  God’s Word to hopefully stimulate your heart and soul and mind. Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the LORD our God to go and worship the gods of those nations; make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison. When such a person hears the words of this oath and they invoke a blessing on themselves, thinking, “I will be safe, even though I persist in going my own way,â€Â they will bring disaster on the watered land as well as the dry. The LORD will never be willing to forgive them; his wrath and zeal will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will fall on them, and the LORD will blot out their names from under heaven. The LORD will single them out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law. Your children who follow you in later generations and foreigners who come from distant lands will see the calamities that have fallen on the land and the diseases with which the LORD has afflicted it. The whole land will be a burning waste of salt and sulfur—nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim, which the LORD overthrew in fierce anger. All the nations will ask: “Why has the LORD done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger?â€Â And the answer will be: “It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their ancestors, the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt. They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them. Therefore the LORD’s anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book. In furious anger and in great wrath the LORD uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now. [Deuteronomy 29:18-28] It is late in America.  There isn’t a lot I can do about a lot of things, but what I can do, I must do. I’m not a high powered lawyer able to argue before the Supreme Court.  I’m not a pastor faithfully feeding God’s sheep.  But, I am a man of God who follows Him and who can share how He is leading me.  When He warns me, I can try to warn others. ======================================================== Donate online at: https://secure4.afo.net/ada/donate.php Or call us at:  888-733-2326 American Decency Association Bill Johnson, President P.O.
