Meet at City Hall Hat tip to Don Wildmon

By: American Decency Staff

Today is the National Day of Prayer or as some of us know it, “Meet at City Hall.â€Â Many of us have read or heard details regarding the origination of The National Day of Prayer, but many have not heard of the origin of Meet at City Hall. Meet at City Hall came from the heart and mind of Rev. Donald E. Wildmon, founder and former long time president of American Family Association. Wildmon unfolded the idea/concept of “Meet at City Hallâ€Â back in the late 1980s as I recall. It was created to encourage Christians to take their faith/spirituality out into the highways and byways of life, into the marketplace, to the local city hall if need be; to not hide our light under a bushel, but to let it shine. In short, Donald Wildmon felt the need to bring the National Day of Prayer to local city halls to urge and visually remind Christians of the importance of taking our faith with us wherever we go – that includes into the political realm. But regardless of where we meet, our coming together on the National Day of Prayer may be a tradition,  but it must be far than that more in these days of spiritual darkness.  It is my personal view that our need has never been greater for prayer for America for we are a nation that is in spiritual, moral, economic, educational, civil decline. There are at least 35,000 groups gathered together in prayer today throughout our beloved America.  May our prayers go forth from our hearts and souls today and everyday as we pray and live increasingly committed lives to our God who is WORTHY. The titanic freedoms which we once enjoyed have been cut loose from their Christian restraints and are becoming a force of destruction leading to chaos. And when this happens, there really are very few alternatives. All morality becomes relative, law becomes arbitrary, and society moves toward disintegration. In personal and social life, compassion is swallowed up by self-interest. …"   Dr. Francis A. Schaeffer ****************** Your support is important to our ability to make a difference.
