Foxnews and their penchant for explicitness

By: American Decency Staff

Warning:  The following accounts contain explicit descriptions.  This information is provided to document our grave concerns. Recently, ADA has been bringing attention to some of the very not family-friendly articles on FOXNews.com, an online news source for many conservatives. FOXNews.com's habit of publishing "tabloid" type articles was first brought to our attention by our long time friend and board member, Steve Ensley, president of AFO.net. Steve recently sent us the following email as well as links of example articles which clearly show why this is a problem for a website aimed towards conservatives, many of whom tend to be socially conservative and anti-pornography. "I just tried an interesting exercise.  If you enter the word "gossip" in the search box on foxnews.com, it comes up with 2371 articles!  And these are just the articles that are labeled as gossip (in other words they admit it is gossip).  There must be thousands of other article that are also gossip, but not labeled as such.  Isn't gossip one of the things Jesus really called us on?  Why are we Christians partaking of this pollution?  Drives me crazy!  No wonder we end up with web sites like Ashley-Madison." Here are a few of the troubling headlines and articles from FOXNews.com. "Is Child Services Investigating Octomom After Man-Baby Whipping Fetish Photos? The photos, obtained by TMZ.com, show Suleman dressed in a tight leather corset, whipping mustachioed LA radio personality Tattoo, who is sporting diapers, baby bonnet and a bib… The series of photos include a shot of the pair cuddling in bed as Suleman feeds Tattoo, born David Gonzalez, a bottle. Another photo features Tattoo being whipped by Suleman as he rides a toy pony. A third photo shows Suleman “punishingâ€Â Gonzalez by making him have a 'time out' in a children’s play castle. A crib and children’s toys appear in several of the photos." This article links to a video which shows all the disturbing photos. "Christina Hendricks' Playboy spread revealed" This article links to Playboy's "safe for work" website, "The Smoking Jacket," which has Christina Hendricks' photos for Playboy. "Oscar nominee James Franco says porn stars are great actors" “I think if anybody who has made a home sex tape knows, what feels best doesn’t always look best,â€Â a frank Franco shared at Newsweek’s 14th Annual Oscar Round Table this week. “I remember when I was 19 doing that, and then watching it back and thinking, oh, that looks horrible. So…yeah, you have a lot of respect for those actors in pornography, because they are really not just doing it, they’re really selling it.â€Â "Snooki and JWoww Topless in Italy? 'Jersey Shore' Has Italian Groups Enraged" This article's title shamelessly draws the reader in with the suggestion of pornography, which the article doesn't deal with at all. The only reason Snooki and JWoww would be topless is that Italy has topless beaches. The article is actually about a group of Italian Americans who fear this show will give them a bad name when it is filmed and consequently viewed in Italy. Those are the stories that pass for “newsâ€Â on FOXNews.com. Here are some of the columns from FOXNews.com: "5 Ways to Feel Sexy Every Day" …So I took some steps to turn up the heat and transform myself from frumpy back to sexy. I asked other women to share how they ensured they felt sexy both in the winter and during the rest of the year, too. What follows is that advice. "Victoria's Secret Angels Old School vs. New Class:  Who is sexiest?" (Complete with pictures, of course) But we want to know who you think is sexier? The old crop of Angels, featuring supermodels like Tyra, Gisele and Heidi, or the new girls like Erin, Candice and Lily? Vote below. "East Meets West in the Bedroom" So, here it is. The top things we can learn about sex from the Zen Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Hinduism and Shinto philosophies. "7 Sexy Ways to Handle Unsexy Problems" Do it naked. Yes, there is a difference between good naked and bad naked. The trick is finding the right balance. If you have to deal with doing something you’d prefer not to wrangle with, why not do it in your favorite lingerie or boxers, or even in the buff. It’s awfully hard to be mad at the object of your affections, when he or she is making your blood pressure rise in a good way. "Unleashing Your Animal Instincts in Bed" It’s amazing how much we can learn about sex from the animal kingdom – what’s “normalâ€Â or “naturalâ€Â and what isn’t, what goes on behind closed doors, who’s “zoomingâ€Â who, you get the idea. …People masturbate. And, much like in the animal kingdom, we do it in a variety of ways – both with “toysâ€Â and without. Unfortunately, unlike animals, there is still a great deal of shame associated with self-play. But this is one area where we should definitely take our lead from the animal kingdom and not worry so much about this perfectly natural behavior. They watch porn. Pandas are often shown porn by zookeepers and others in the business of trying to get pandas to mate, not always an easy task. People watch porn. Unfortunately, people also abuse porn. But if we were to take a page from the panda playbook, we would use it to jump-start our own sex lives. It’s a subsidy, not a substitution. And it’s fantasy, not instruction. And people say that the news is always depressing.  Well, I have to say that people are right, especially when you consider that this news source is catering to the more conservative side of the country which is also more likely to be Christian or at least have Christian values. We appreciate the fact that FOX news is often the only conservative voice in a liberal wasteland. That is exactly why we would prefer that they not publish these types of articles. We would love to be able to have a clean conscience in pointing people to check out FOX News, but how can we as principled people suggest an article that may include links that attempt to justify pornography or even tempt with pornography. Please, let FOXNews.com know that you expect more of them. https://americandecency.org/take_action_form.php?msg_id=87 ==================================================== Your support is important to our ability to make a difference.
