Today at 2:15 our U.S. Senators are scheduled to vote on the Defense Authorization Bill.  However, in addition to voting for funding for our troops, our Senators may also be voting to kill innocent babies, voting to promote and legitimize the homosexual lifestyle, voting to undermine the values upon which our country was founded and our military has honored for hundreds of years.  For including with this Defense Bill Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid plans to attach amendments repealing “Don’t Ask/Don’t Tellâ€Â allowing for open homosexuality in the military and also adding abortion coverage to military hospitals. Our country truly hangs in the balance as the attack against our foundations, against biblical Truth intensifies.  Your calls to your U.S. Senators are needed right now.  Ask them to vote “noâ€Â on the "motion to proceed" on the defense authorization bill and send it back to committee.  Call your senators right now at 202-224-3121. Many speakers at the Values Voter Summit this past weekend urged pro-family Americans to stand against this attack.   One voice of leadership is Gary Bauer.  Below he speaks out on this important concern. ********************** Gary Bauer – End of the Day Report – September 20, 2010 Democrats Holding Our Troops Hostage The Senate will vote this week on legislation funding the Pentagon, our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as other vital national security issues. But, just as he did last year with the hate crimes bill, Harry Reid is holding our troops hostage to his left-wing agenda. Reid plans to attach two amendments to this year’s defense bill – one lifting the ban on abortions at military hospitals and the other repealing the military’s “Don’t Ask/Don’t Tellâ€Â policy. It is disgraceful that Harry Reid and other Senate liberals are advancing their radical left-wing agenda on the backs of our men and women in uniform. Worse, they are doing so without even considering the opinions of our troops. The Pentagon has sent a survey to active duty personnel regarding “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tellâ€Â and will review the policy after receiving the survey results at the end of the year. Secretary of Defense Gates and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen have asked Congress to wait for the feedback of our troops before acting. In a letter to Capitol Hill, Gates and Mullen stated bluntly: “[We] strongly oppose any legislation that seeks to change this policy prior to the completion of this vital assessment process. …[we] hope Congress will not do so as it would send a very damaging message to our men and women in uniform that in essence their views, concerns and perspectives do not matter on an issue with such a direct impact and consequence for them and their families.â€Â But it’s no secret why it is happening now. With just 43 days left until the elections, Democrats are desperate to motivate their base. So Reid is pandering to the pro-abortion crowd and militant homosexual rights movement at the expense of our troops. ACTION ITEM: Call your senators right now at 202-224-3121.
