The Overlooked Victims of Porn

By: American Decency Staff

As we as a culture turn our backs on God’s standards, we open ourselves to horrific consequences including prostitution, exotic dancing, porn addictions. A person that knows far more about that then I do is Shelley Lubben, former porn star – saved out of prostitution and exotic dancing. s The Overlooked Victims of Porn For years, one of the biggest excuses of porn addicts is that it is a victimless crime. And for years, the most common answer to that has been that it does have victims; the user’s spouse and family always experience the consequences of their loved one’s sin. Shelley Lubben has brought attention to another group of those affected by pornography: the women that perform in the porn films themselves. In 1986, at the age of 18, Shelley entered the world of prostitution and exotic dancing. In a few years, she had a child and a drug addiction. She relates a story of how she used to send her 4 year old daughter to the park with a beeper when she had clients and beep her when the man left. Eventually she left prostitution to make porn movies. Shelley Lubben was in the sex business for 8 years before the Lord pulled her out.  See: http://www.shelleylubben.com/ Today Shelley runs a ministry called Pink Cross which seeks to pull porn stars out of the business and show them the love of God. The stories of both Shelley and the women that God rescues through her reveal the horrible, degrading treatment of the female performers in this industry. The women explain that on the set they are treated callously and inhumanely: “like a piece of meatâ€Â. They recollect that while they were filming they would hear other actresses crying and vomiting offset, horrified at what they had done. The actors and directors would not stop filming when the women expressed pain or discomfort. Although there has not been enough attention to the effects of pornography on men, women, and families, there has been even less focus on the effect on the “starsâ€Â themselves. Here are some startling stats from Pink Cross. 66% of porn performers have Herpes, a non-curable disease. Chlamydia and Gonorrhea among performers is 10x greater than that of LA County 20-24 year olds. 75%-90% of porn performers are prostituted women. Even while we blame pornography for objectifying women, it is easy to completely overlook the women of pornography. This is a group of women living a lie, and they know they are living a lie, but they can’t break free. While we work and pray and protest against the dispersion of pornography, we should remember the women who are stuck in that lifestyle as well. Jesus has been calling prostitutes since one washed his feet with her tears. It is important that we do not forget them. Personal note in closing: If you are a parent of a young lady, I would encourage you to purchase Nancy Leigh DeMoss little booklet  and/or CD series Does God Really Care What I Wear? The booklet is $6.00.  The CD set is $13.00. We need all the help that we can get in modeling for our children and fighting with them for God’s protection and instruction. Order them and we’ll get this helpful material out to you quickly. https://secure4.afo.net/ada/main.php?f=store/display ================= Your support is important to our ability to make a difference: donate online at: https://secure4.afo.net/ada/main.php?f=donate/display9 American Decency Association Bill Johnson, President P.O.
