Recently,  my wife made a shopping visit at Walgreens.  She was disappointed to find they were carrying the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. She expressed her concern and told them she wouldn't be doing any business with them as long as they carried that magazine. I checked a couple of weeks later. The magazine, though less obvious, was still being sold.  I spoke with an assistant manager.  I presented her with the following letter and an informational brochure.

============= February 18, 2010 To whom it may concern: I'm writing on behalf of numbers of people from the greater Fremont area who, with us, are disappointed that Walgreens is selling the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. I'm enclosing a brochure that was created by Dr. Linnea Smith, noted wife of highly regarded – former – North Carolina basketball coach Dean Smith. In the brochure are many pithy comments and quotes regarding the negative impact of pornography. SI Swimsuit Edition is pornographic. A quick look around this community will show that the merchants of this  community have been responsive to expressions of concern. Years ago Bills Shop N' Save discontinued selling SI Swimsuit. Rite Aid, too and Walmart (Fremont) have not carried it for several years. Though there is no Meijer outlet in Fremont, this large chain store discontinued its sale long ago. D&W, while yet in Fremont, once carried it. Through expressions of concern, D&W (west Michigan based) discontinued its sale in all of its 20 some branches. We are asking you to give serious consideration to our request. It is far easier to flood a community with indecency and pornography than it is too keep it out and away from our children and families.
