regarding Victoria’s Secret, Disney, Wal-mart, Twix, Carl’s Jr. – challenging comments

Boycotting or not boycotting?  Which companies are particularly undeserving of our business? Read a number of thoughtful comments.  They probably are thoughts and questions that you either have had or currently have. Email #1:  Glad to see that we included Disney on our boycott list Thanks for the times your company boycotts Disney.  It was very validating to see it on the list, because I know they are morally falling over a cliff.  I don't know if Disneyland is as bad in the USA as it is here in Japan, yet all the Disney Princess packaging, stickers, and so forth makes them look like prostitutes.  Disney movies in general don't have solid virtue modeling any more.  Little girls are now getting associated to anti-virtue and thinking it is proper role modeling.  I spoke with one of the big wigs at Disney here (a woman) who was scandalized to think that a Disney Princess ought to be a role model that reflects virtue… Disneyland and Disneysea here in Tokyo are laced with racy, suggestive, and immodestly dressed dancers.  Everything from live belly dancing shows and other exotic performances.  We've actually mapped out the child friendly areas of the parks and stick to those. Sadly, the parades are also an event that is laced with lewdness and therefore "not part of our approved role modeling map."  It would be one thing if the park visitors had immodesty issues (and I believe Disneyland used to have standards about attire), yet when the children's park itself has the issues…  Then that is a real problem. We know we cannot control our children and they will have their own tests here on earth, yet we do feel a strong responsibility to help them establish a comfort zone and skills to navigate life with. That American Decency has Disney as part of their very short "who to boycott list," it says a lot.  Thanks for having Disney on that list. ADA comment:  See our email alert from yesterday: “Boycotting List.â€Â http://bit.ly/8Y7Rrm Email #2:  continues to boycott Wal-mart Yes, I continued my boycott of Wal-Mart even after some lifted theirs.  When I call customer service I still get the same answer, they work with homosexual groups to bring equality to the work place.   At first they'd say, "Work closely."   I would love to go back and shop there or Sam's but it actually has simplified my life.  I pretty much do all my shopping at Meijer and Menards.  I avoid Best Buy, Rite Aid, Walgreens, KMart, Home Depot.  HRC site has a buying guide for the homosexuals to support.  The ones with high scores I know to avoid.    http://www.hrc.org/documents/HRC_Corporate_Equality_Index_2010.pdf Thank you for your great work. Diane ADA comment: The above web link at Human Rights Campaign IS very helpful.  You’ll find lots of concerning surprises on their list. Email #3:  Carl’s Jr. reminder to us – should be on our boycott list I don't know where I saw the info, but I boycott Carl's Jr as their ads are pornographic.  I do not ever turn on a TV, but I have seen clips of their commercials on the internet and that was enough.  They are just now opening them up all over south central Texas and I warn my friends before they get their doors open. Texas ADA comment: Oops.  This writer is absolutely right.  I overlooked Carl Jr. (Hardy’s).  We have too often been surprised by their tasteless, erotic ads and we have been a factor in them removing said ads. Email #4:  concerning Twix advertisement Hello ADA, Just wanted to take a minute and say I appreciate what you do. Thanks for the updates. Not sure if you are already aware of this one, but I saw a disgusting, offensive online commercial for Twix today. It just started playing while I was on a website. I was appalled. Since we do not own a television, we are spared a ton of indecency in our home.  The ad can be found on youtube as well.  Here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY6NlmVuyAw ADA comment:  I did check it out.  We agree.  Totally inappropriate ad. Contact Twix at: Mars, Inc. 6885 Elm St. McLean, VA  22101 Phone: 703-821-4900 Fax: 703-448-9678 Chairman – John Mars  Frank.Mars@effem.com President and CEO – Paul Michaels  Paul.Michaels@effem.com God Bless, J.F. Email #5:  will not buy anything from Yum Brand companies We absolutely WILL NOT buy anything from your company.  I have torn up all coupons for Pizza Hut and will no longer go there for our family night out.  My son loves A&W root beer but we will no longer purchase that soda — there are other choices.  These are the only two products that we consistently bought, but no longer ! Why do people think that there will be no consequences to the programming that is being shown today ! Our children are growing up in a world where right is wrong and wrong is right.  We will definitely reap what we sow and then we will look back and wonder why we didn't do something sooner. Sincerely, J.J.B. ADA comments: We are thankful for such convictions!  There need to be many more expressing their concerns. See: https://americandecency.org/take_action_form.php Email #6: :  disgusted with a  Jeopardy airing that included I just sent the following e-mail to "Jeopardy!" regarding some content on Tuesday's show: To Whom It May Concern: On Tuesday's show in the first round was a category devoted to company CEO's.  The $200 and $800 clues had to do with the "Playboy" and "Hustler" publications, respectively.  It bothered me that they were incorporated into your show despite its "G" rating.  They are pornographic, for crying out loud! I ask that the use of "Playboy" and "Hustler" and the people in charge of them be banned from the clues on your show from now on. Sincerely, Dayton, Ohio ADA comment: We are thankful for our friend from Dayton, Ohio.  He is so faithful in letter writing.  He’s the best!  A true watchman at the gate! Email #7:   Wheel of Fortune … Bill, I was watching Wheel of Fortune last night, and I could not believe what I heard.  I am still in shock! The host asked the first two ladies about their families….they both said they were happily married to wonderful men.  Then he asked the third contestant, a man, about his family.  He said he was married to a man.  It did not register.  But then I looked and listened to him…he was obviously gay.    NOW WHEEL OF FORTUNE IS PROMOTING GAY MARRIAGE!!!!!!!!  AT A TIME WHEN OUR CHILDREN ARE WATCHING!!!!  I AM OUTRAGED!!!!!!!!!! Do you know anything about this? Gregg ADA comment: No. We don’t know anything about this.  Has anyone else seen a trend going on here? Email #8: an unsubscribe and explanation I want to unsubscribe to your free emails.  I think it is good what you are doing, except it is often too detailed for me. Thanks., D. ADA comment: They probably are too detailed, yet we want you to understand why we take the stands that we do.  Are we too detailed? ===================================== Your support is important to our ability to make a difference: donate online at: https://secure4.afo.net/ada/main.php?f=donate/display9 American Decency Association Bill Johnson, President P.O.
