Receive life and nourishment for your spiritual growth

On occasion we receive email and/or telephone calls asking for help in having victory over lust and pornography. Once upon a time when I was doing battle against pornography in my life I discovered the power of putting the mind of Christ into my mind and heart. One writer stated it in the following way: “One of the clearest chapters in the Bible on overcoming temptations is James 1.  It contains both a command and a promise that you must apply to your life if you are to experience victory on a daily basis.  “… Receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls’  (James 1:21). The power of God’s Word to conquer moral impurity is also emphasized in Psalm 119:9-11.  ‘Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way?  By taking heed thereto according to thy word.  With my whole heart have I sought thee:  O let me not wander from thy commandments.  Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.’ Scripture compares believers to a wild olive tree, and the double-engrafting process which is done to the tree is also to be carried out in our lives: ‘…But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree’ (Romans 11:17). First, a young, wild olive tree will be engrafted into the cut-off trunk of a mature, good olive tree which has a strong, healthy root system.  From this root system, nourishment flows into the young olive tree, causing it to grow rapidly. The second stage of engrafting occurs when good olive branches are engrafted into the wild olive tree.  These branches then produce good fruit. At salvation you were engrafted into Christ.  From Him you receive life and nourishment for spiritual growth.  However, there is a further need to engraft branches of Scripture into your soul so you can produce good fruit. ‘If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto youâ€Â (John 15:7). [Taken from How to Follow Basic Life Principles, Institute for Basic Life Principles] I would state in closing that the author of the above suggests engrafting (memorizing) Romans 6 and Romans 8.  Read it for yourself and you’ll understand that this would be an excellent portion of Scripture to engraft into your soul. ————————————————————– Word of notice regarding our recent free book offering, “The Holiness of Godâ€Â by R.C.
