McDonald’s horrid response letter

By: American Decency Staff

On June 3, 2010, we wrote the following regarding a concerning advertisement that McDonald’s was airing. Quoting: “In a new commercial being run in France, McDonald’s makes its support for the gay community very clear. The ad features a high-school-aged boy on his cell phone speaking romantically to a classmate – from his all-boys school.  The ad has nothing to do with promoting McDonald’s menu, and everything to do with promoting the homosexual lifestyle – while portraying McDonald’s as “gay-friendly.â€Â Everyone receiving this email needs to let their voice be heard and spread this email alert far and wide.  Stand up now!  McDonald’s is becoming a regular voice of slyly endorsing homosexuality while pretending to be family oriented, breaking their word to stay neutral on issues of homosexuality as they pledged to do a couple of years ago. View the McDonald’s “Come as You Areâ€Â homosexual ad for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBuKuA9nHsw ADA, of course, gave opportunity to express concern:  See: https://americandecency.org/take_action_form.php?msg_id=36 ============================== Here is how McDonald’s responded from their corporate office in Versailles: I have received your letter regarding our advertising film “Come as You Areâ€Â. The ad you’re referencing is one of a series of ads called “Come as You Areâ€Â which recognizes the diversity of McDonald’s customers in France. The campaign was designed to communicate the true McDonald’s experience in France:  a place where you can be yourself, whatever your state of mind, your background; a place where you can feel free of constraints, a place where you can ‘Come As You Are’.  Since its launch, the campaign has achieved high awareness and it has been received positively by the majority of the French public. The goal with this new phase of the campaign is to continue to build on the emotional connection created between the brand and the French public, by going beyond a simple description of our customers we actually tell their stories, capturing their personality and their emotions. Through these films McDonald’s pays tribute to the diversity of its customers and the richness of their stories. I hope you’ll better understand the aim of your “Come as You Areâ€Â communication’s campaign. Yours sincerely, Nathalie Febvre Customer Services Department ADA comments: In July 2008, American Family Association had launched a boycott of McDonald’s Corporation  because  McDonald's refused (at that time) to remain neutral in the culture wars. McDonald's had chosen t to give the full weight of their corporation to promoting the homosexual agenda, including homosexual marriage. Under the significant influence of AFA, McDonald’s  discontinued its practice of promoting the homosexual agenda and made it clear McDonald’s would remain neutral in this cultural war. The above response from McDonald’s (France) should serve as a red flag to all of us regarding McDonald’s position on this continued concern. For thousands of years homosexuality has been recognized as aberrant, destructive behavior.  Your decision to blatantly go against time-honored standards of truth, morality and decency is extremely difficult to comprehend. Your response to our letters of concern out of McDonald’s (France) is very concerning to me. I urge you to understand that there are millions of people just like me that expect you to do the right thing not the aberrant.
