Personal note: I wonder how anyone with a concern regarding even the remotest sense of right and wrong can watch "Family Guy" and any number of programs similar to it. I am blessed with having two grandchildren living with Jan and I at the present time.  Our four year old has been singing the time-honored song "Be Careful Little Eyes What You See."  We talked about that last night in a little devotional time together. What tenderness. What innocence! I never want her to be exposed to such filth. Some say "If you don't like it, just turn the channel." What utter nonsense. Turn the channel – we will and have done all of our lives. But, we all have to live in this world. Our concern articulated many times over the years was that we have to live in this world and while we are doing our best to bring up our children as kind, law abiding, caring people, there are millions of people who for whatever reason are exposing themselves and their children to perverse, degrading messages and themes that are desensitizing and polluting their minds and souls. What you view does impact! That's what I have said and will say as long as God gives me life and breath. America has been and is becoming a godless culture for quite some time now. So much points back to the reality that our airwaves are filled with godlessness. We are paying a huge societal price for our inability to curb it. It's become very difficult to protect our precious children and grandchildren from it. And, believe it or not, there are people like me that will do everything we possibly can to protect them and to try to disciple them in the ways of Jesus.I have become convinced that both have become very, very difficult (1) protecting them , and (2) going upstream in a culture that seemingly could care less and disciple them in being careful what their little see (knowing the difference between the holy and the profane). It seems to me in these declining years that it takes a true conversion in the heart and soul to compel a person over the long haul to know the difference between filth and decency and to detest the filth. I thank God for the work that He has done in my life. I detest filth. ===================== The following review of "American Dad" written by Chris Johnson “That's like getting hate mail from Hitler. They are literally terrible human beings.â€Â This is Seth MacFarlane's reaction to the Parents Television Council's letter writing campaigns against his shows, Family Guy and American Dad. It seems that Entertainment Weekly's 2008 "Smartest Person in TV" doesn't understand his viewers distaste for shows that feature the main character giving a horse a “releaseâ€Â as happened in the latest American Dad episode. The theme of this episode was not as overtly offensive as some have been in the past. Much of the episode was fairly free of any hard political or religious “digsâ€Â. But it still included the stereo-typical bumbling father role, and several unnecessary sexual innuendo's, including the the perversion mentioned above and one of the character's mentioning “pumping your wifeâ€Â to the main character. As I have mentioned before, most of these jokes just wouldn't pass in a live-action show. Also, this show can not let an episode go by without at least a small mockery of perceived conservative values. This weeks little jab was at SUV drivers, portraying them as wasteful and unthoughtful. FOX should be ashamed of themselves for selling ammunition to both sides. On the one hand, their news channel is the choice of most conservative leaning viewers. On the other hand, their entertainment network dishes out some of the most conservative-bashing programming. FOX, MacFarlane, and these shows advertisers need to know that you don't appreciate their attacks on our long held American values.
