Advertisers for ABC/Disney’s “The Gates”

Sample Letter: I am writing to urge you to pull your advertising support for the new ABC show The Gates.  This program portrays the occult to be tantalizing and sexy rather than dangerous and malignant. Many of us in your potential audience find this subject disturbing and will avoid this program, and thus your advertising block, until it is off the air. On top of its portrayal of the occult, this program also features a disturbing sexual scene resulting in a graphic and bloody murder.  Such images implanted in the minds of viewers desensitize and damage and have lasting impact on impressionable ones.  I hope this is not the type of material you wish consumers to associate with your product.  I urge you to find another program with a more family-friendly message to support with your advertising dollars.  I look forward to your response to my concern.
