For years now, on Sunday evenings Fox TV airs its trifecta of trash – Cleveland Show, Family Guy, and American Dad. Each of these animated shows is filled with crude language, sexual themes, and references to perverse acts. Also for years, Yum Brands has been a devoted advertiser, regularly sponsoring this vulgar content. And last night was no different as Taco Bell sponsored two of the above programs. (Yum Brands includes Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC, Long John Silver’s, and A&W.) Yum Brands has been on ADA’s radar for years, as well. We communicated with the company over their sponsorship of Desperate Housewives when that show premiered in 2004. After months of communications, Yum Brands stated they were pulling all advertising from Desperate Housewives, only to break their word weeks later. For more information regarding our long time efforts regarding Yum Brands, click here: https://americandecency.org/archives/boycott-yum-brands-%e2%80%93-long-time-advertisers-of-programs-negatively-targeting-youth/ Yum Brands has a very long history of sponsoring trash TV and being disingenuous in their communications. But check out Yum Brands’ own website and they claim to be oh so concerned about society, stating:  “We believe in giving back to the communities in which we work and live, making a positive difference in the lives of our customers and associates and their families.â€Â Empowering the immoral messages of such shows as Family Guy and American Dad certainly isn’t making a “positiveâ€Â difference in lives – rather a destructive one! And then there is this pledge on Yum Brands’ website about treating animals humanely: “As a major purchaser of food products, Yum! has the opportunity and responsibility to influence the way animals supplied to us are treated. We take that responsibility very seriously and monitor our suppliers on an ongoing basis to determine whether our suppliers are using humane procedures for caring for and handling animals they supply to us.â€Â Yum Brands obviously cares more about their responsibility to animal welfare than the welfare of your family and mine, as well as our entire culture as they sponsor the culture-rotting themes of these shows! A company that “takes very seriouslyâ€Â the care of animals to be slaughtered, but shows absolutely no concern for the harm they’re causing to hearts and minds of young and old alike through the coarsening of this culture, is a company not worthy of support. I urge you to let Yum Brands know that as long as they align their corporate name with programming that undermines your family, you and your family will not be eating at Yum Brands.
