*** When Danica Patrick prostitutes herself in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, as she does again in this years SI Swimsuit, a verse from Amos comes to mind that is prophesying to the people of Israel – a people who have grown spiritually smug, not needing God’s grace and mercy – corrupt: “[1] Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink. …” [Amos 4:1-2]
Wesley’s Explanatory notes reads:
“Kine of Bashan – So Amos compares the mighty, wanton, and oppressive rulers of Israel, to those full-fed, strong, and wanton beasts which in the herds did push at, hurt, and disturb the weaker cattle. …”
Matthew Henry’s Commentary reads:
“What is got by extortion is commonly used to provide for the flesh, and to fulfil the lusts thereof. What is got by oppression cannot be enjoyed with satisfaction. How miserable are those whose confidence in unscriptural observances only prove that they believe a lie! Let us see to it that our faith, hope, and worship, are warranted by the Divine word. …”
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit is not just a blip on the screen.
It’s another index of America’s ongoing and rapid spiritual decline. Women – young and old – see how women (whom you once had regard for) are readily/eagerly? taking off their clothes before a watching world and are encouraged likewise – to bear their naked bodies before a camera (even cell phone cameras). This lewdness is spreading like a wildfire damaging many in the multiple wakes erupting across America’s towns and cities engulfing even and especially America’s children. Where are God-fearing, wholesome, healthy, whole adult role models to be found?
What kind of a woman takes off her clothes in front of a photographer who coaches her to lift her leg just so here and posture her buttocks that way – evoking sexual excitation, lust and masturbation? What about her husband, fiance, daughter, son? Are they unharmed by such illicit portrayals?
Does Danica ever think about her legacy? Untold numbers of men are lusting and self-pleasuring to her pictures. Through prostituting herself (she receives money from SI Swimsuit for her eroticism), she is stirring numbers (hundreds? thousands?) to commit adultery, to lust, to fornicate in their hearts and minds, to sin against God their Creator?
Danica: You have been deceived and are deceiving, weakening and addicting others – and causing another to be unfaithful to their loved one(s). I feel very sorry for you!
The verse certainly applies to General Motors, too. GMC “kine” like – appeals to the lust of the flesh in its full page spread featuring a long slender women laid out in a scintillating pose on the “beach” with the following advertising verbiage:
“With swimsuits and gasoline, less is definitely more. …”
Americans read of the collapse of GM yet here GM shows up on the first pages of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition advertising their product void of understanding.
Justice is being unleashed. There are natural consequences that flow from the hand of God. He blesses those who honor Him and He holds back His hand of blessing on those who dishonor Him. Will this scintillating General Motors ad encourage you to buy GM? Or do you, too, experience disgust with GM’s blindness – corruption of soul?
GM, in all fairness, isn’t the only auto maker advertising in the 2009 SI Swimsuit, see advertising list later today.
