The vigilance against pornography needs to start with you and me

smallerPlayboy building picketPornography is insidious. It can worm its way into basically any person's life. This pastor's wife (below) makes that reality frighteningly clear. I am thankful for the courage of the contributor below.  This account is heart-wrenchingly honest and heartbreaking.  I fear for America's homes because far too few are stopping the flow of trash into their homes. Quoting: A woman caller called me yesterday and stated that she telephoned a number of ministries yesterday to find that there is virtually nothing being done by most of them to sound the alarm, to warn, exhort, educate the nation to the plague of pornography during this years "Pornography Awareness Week." This ought not to be. The vigilance though does need to begin right in our own lives and households. Email #1: To your amazement, I'm sure, I am not a male.  I am female.  And my story is more bizarre because I have been VERY HAPPILY MARRIED AND COMMITTED to my minister husband for 23 years.  We have been married for 24 years and the last year has been nothing but HELL for us both.  And it all started when I finally succumbed and allowed internet in my home. When we started a family, we removed cable television.  We instilled nothing but the Word of God into our children, only Christian music, only Christian books, we even paid for a strong Christian education.  They started asking for internet and we continued to say "no" even when the Christian school they attended began requesting it. To add to my bizarre situation, we focused our ministry on parenting and marriage.  My husband supported bans on businesses that ran racey material or supported gays.  He took a strong stand against porn in our community and became well known for it. He preached strongly against it.  I am the last person this should have ever happened to! We made a decision to start homeschooling and since we were saving so much money over what we were paying for Christian education, my husband bought laptops for our children to do their school on at home. My son is very computer savvy and soon discovered that he could pick up internet bleeding over from a neighbor.  Thus began my saga! A minister friend asked me to get on Face Book so we could keep up with each other easier.  I did. Then he invited me to start chatting with him.  I did. Those chats led to four different affairs, web cam sex, private meetings, lies, deception, phone sex, sexting and eventually porn.  That minister was one of them.  One of the men started sending me porn to ask me to do some of the things in the videos.  Then I started clicking on other videos to learn more about how to please my men. My family has been destroyed because of my sin.  The very thing I tried to protect my children from came back to bite me!  I have no one else to blame but me…and the internet.  My children have followed suit with the lies and deception and lust.  They have no respect for me anymore.  My marriage will never be the same since my husband did find out some of what I was up to.  He would be shocked if he knew it all.  Though he's chosen to forgive me and I have repented of my sin and we remain in ministry, I struggle on a daily basis (really, it's an hourly struggle). I opened doors to spirits that will probably haunt me for the rest of my life.  Everywhere I go, men are asking me out, offering me phone numbers, looking me over.  It doesn't matter where I am.  I even get the looks at church.  I've had many pastors ask me to have an affair.  I am a woman in my 40's.  I do not look as I did when I was younger.  But I'm sure that the spirits attract men to me.  I try to remain aware of that now everywhere I go. I stand with your ministry against porn.  Everyone targets men, but women do get caught up in it as well.  I appreciate your work and am sorry that I am one who had to learn from my own experience instead of yours. =========================== Pornography victimless? Is there one of you reading this who is willing to share your story that I can use to break the silence during this 2009 Pornography Awareness Week? Help give the warning! It WILL be kept anonymous. I have no doubt there are women (particularly) but not just women, whose mate is breaking ones heart because of playing with the fire of pornography – lusting, leering, hooked. I await your response. Pornography DOES victimize.
