Have we as citizens of this nation just given up and given in to the plague of pornography?

By: Steve Huston

This question, in the subject line, is just one of the questions that we will be asking our main speaker to address tomorrow evening and on Saturday at our conference here in Michigan!

Pat Trueman, Esq former head of the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Enforcement Section in Washington DC heads our weekend slate.

He is our first speaker beginning the conference Friday night (tomorrow night) at 7:00 pm. For the full schedule see:

Here are some of the other questions we will be asking Pat Trueman to address:

(1) Is the war against pornography over?

(2) Have we as citizens of this nation just given up and given in to the plague of pornography? Provide evidence to support your position.
[I would like to add this as a follow up question. If in fact we have given in – what will be the short term and long term consequences of giving in?]

(3) There will always be a battle between conservative and liberal ideologies. So even if under one administration there is a clamping down on pornography – it is highly likely that the next administration will squander any and all gains. Is that correct?

(4) In your judgment (speaking very generally), at any given time are there ever many prosecutors willing to enforce the law against obscenity? If not why not?

(5) Why is it important that pornography be fought from top down rather than bottom up? (Explain first what is meant by that.)

(6) Does this mean that it is unimportant for people to speak against seemingly smaller matters such as indecency at the checkout counters, indecent/pornography?

(7) How did you get into this fight against pornography?

(8) Speak to some of the areas of pornography of below regarding their impact.

television programming

cell phones

child trafficking

emails promoting sexual things

Pornography sites

magazines like Playboy, Hustler

magazines like Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Cosmopolitan

(9) What has been your biggest disappointment in your years of fighting against pornography both as a law enforcement agent and as a citizen?

(10) Discuss the George W. Bush administration efforts to curb pornography.

(11) Comment, too, on the Barack H. Obama administration. Is obscenity on the law enforcement radar with Attorney General Eric Holder and Chief Deputy – David Ogden

(12) In 1987, Focus on the Family created a 60 minute film called “The Winnable War.” Dr. Dobson had served on the Attorney General’s Commission on Pornography and believed after serving in this important capacity that the war against pornography was winnable. Did you think so at that time? Did you when you were serving with CEOS?

It’s not too late particularly if you are within driving distance of Fremont, Michigan (1 hour north of Grand Rapids). We are excited about the weekend event. We hope you’ll join us.

Match Grant Challenge —

$4,554 have been raised as of today. $10,446 yet needed to reach the goal!

Pornographers raise money easily through deception, playing to the weaknesses of vulnerable men, women and even children. They appeal to the flesh.

We raise money through sharing our burden, prayer, service in His name, even match challenges. We appeal to our spiritual brothers and sisters.

Here are the details of this important challenge.

1. it must be new money–from someone who hasn’t given in 2008 or 2009. Or, any amount given in 2009 which was more than what someone gave in 2008. E.g. donor gives $400 in 2008 but cumulatively gives $1000 in 2009 by the end of the match period, we will match $600
2. we will match up to $15,000
3. the funds must be received between June 15 and September 30.
