This Sunday, October 19 is “Marriage Sunday”

By: Steve Huston

The following word comes from Mat Staver and the Liberty Counsel.
This timely word is followed by another timely message. [Don’t take your marriage for granted. Build up one another.]

Last Chance to Save Marriage

This Sunday, October 19 is “Marriage Sunday,” when pastors across America will address marriage from a biblical perspective. A special “Concert and Rally for God’s Design” will be held from 7-9 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Orlando to support the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment (Amendment 2). This event is free and open to the public.

Also on Sunday, October 19, there will be a prayer meeting from 4-5 p.m. in the Supreme Courtroom at Liberty University School of Law for Lisa Miller and her daughter, Isabella. Lisa’s legal battle is an example of the consequences of giving legal recognition to same-sex relationships. Activist judges in Vermont have declared that a legal stranger is a second “mommy” to Lisa’s biological child. On October 27, a Vermont judge will decide whether to order a six-year-old little girl taken from the loving arms of the only mommy she has ever known – her biological mother, Lisa. More information is available on a special Facebook page entitled “Only One Mommy: The Story of Lisa and Isabella Miller.”

Monday, October 20 has been declared a day of prayer and fasting for the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment (Amendment 2), an amendment to protect marriage as the union of one man and one woman. This Amendment will prevent activist judges from redefining marriage, as they have done in California, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Even if you are not a Florida resident, please join us in this important effort. Fast and pray not only for Florida, but for similar amendments in Arizona and California. Churches in California are in the midst of a 40 day fast for that state’s amendment. Recent pollings show that results have been miraculous. August polling in California showed only 40% supporting and 54% opposing the amendment, but recent polls indicate that 47% support and 42% oppose the amendment. Prayer, fasting and action makes a difference.

In closing:
Have you seen “Fireproof” yet? If not, I once again urge you to see it.

Here’s briefly what Ted Baehr’s “Movie Guide” has to say about it:

Content:

Very strong Christian worldview with very strong biblical, moral elements with clear presentation of the Gospel, powerful conversions, heartrending confessions, and compelling discipling; no foul language; fireman rescues young girl from burning house and gets burned, firemen rescue two girls trapped in a car accident stuck on railroad tracks as train passes, injuries shown, man bashes inanimate objects with baseball bat; discussions of love and romance, husband and wife kiss and hug each other, husband looks at computer pornography (nothing shown), doctor tries to seduce married woman, but nothing salacious shown; no nudity; no alcohol; no smoking; and, husband wants to divorce wife, wife is susceptible to the advances of a doctor and sin is rebuked.

Summary:

FIREPROOF is an incredibly gripping, compelling, heartrending, transformational story about saving a marriage between a small-town fire chief and his working wife that is on the rocks. Impeccably plotted, it is a stirring presentation of the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the power of Gods amazing grace.

I announce to you a year end match challenge that was extended by a friend of this ministry.

It’s an extension of an earlier one that we were not able to meet a little bit earlier in the year.

Quoting: “I will match all new (from anyone who has not given to ADA in 2007 or 2008) gifts received from June 1- August 31 up to a total of $15,000. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for all you do to uphold purity and holiness.”

This match challenge had already run for three months. Here are the results through that time frame. There were 88 gifts totaling $5,911.00.

So our anonymous donor graciously sent us a check for $6,000 and proceeded to yet challenge us again. Stating: “We will give you $6,000 now and we would like to extend the offer for an additional $10,000 for new money collected by 12/31/08. Keep up the fight…”

Those of you that follow closely know that these year end match challenges – as they are met – have been used significantly to strengthen us to start the new year on solid financial ground!!

If you benefit from our email alerts, I encourage you to show your tangible support. Your gift of any amount will be doubled. We will continue by the grace of God and the help of His people.
