The War on the Word & our response

By: American Decency Staff

Standing and living in Truth Several years ago I went to a conference in Orlando, Florida entitled "The War on the Word." The year was 2002.Checking out the themes from that conference: "… Erwin Lutzer, John MacArthur, R.C. Sproul, and R.C. Sproul Jr. helped to equip Christians to better defend and proclaim the holy Word of God. Demonstrating how the Word of God is under attack, they explained that the assault comes from both inside and outside the church, as those outside claim that Scripture is not the Word of God and those inside fail to handle the Word rightly. …" https://store.ligonier.org/product.asp?idDept=M&idCategory=PH&idProduct=ORL02MC As we continue and will continue to see our children and families assaulted by the new technologies and the old in ever increasing ways, as a father and grandfather, I continue to answer the questions "Is there any way to keep our children from selling out to Satan and his minions? How can we keep our loved ones from the hellishness of this world brought by falling for the lies of this age? How can we encourage them to "fear the Lord" and "to pursue holiness without which no man shall see the Lord?" [Psalm 101:3a] I don't have to look far for the answer – the real answer. The answer is found in the Word of God. Anyone who knows me knows that I have children (young adults) that are walking with the Lord and one or two that aren't. (And, I will tell you straight up that I am in close touch and have loving relationship and very regular communications with each of them; that God isn't through calling out to each of us to follow Him.) Walking in the light will protect, preserve, undergird, strengthen, keep from the evil one. Of that I am convinced. Seeing what God is doing in the lives of true believers is solid testimony! By His grace, I began to love the truth around 23 years of age. I wasn't raised in a church going household. I was a very good secular – relativistic guy. It showed too by the foolish/dumb decisions I was making in my college years. Christ poured out His grace. It was by His grace I received His love and forgivenenss of my many sins. Yes. His mercy has endured and will endure. The Bible tells me so, and I continue to experience it. That drove me to want to be a truth teller. He gave me a calling and I have been following ever since. I hope to as long as He gives me mind and breath. As a result, I so much want to tell others what God's Word has done for me. I want to point people to the way, the truth and the life. On our webpage – https://americandecency.org is a banner promoting "The Truth Project." Do you love Truth? Do you see how it is under attack? Do you see how there is so little done to Defend it? Promote it? Live under it? I urge you to click on the banner and find out more information about "The Truth Project". "The Truth Project" is nationwide sponsored by Focus on the Family. Here too is our bulletin insert for May. It's emphasis is the Truth Project. https://americandecency.org/resources/bulletin/2008/btnmay08.pdf Sign up to be a part of the Truth Project. Help us get hundreds if not thousands of others involved in being strengthened in their understanding and knowledge of the Word of God – and most importantly their walk in the Light of God's Word! "It only takes a spark to get a fire going." ============================================================= Lastly, a tangible way of standing for Truth — In October 2006, Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel announced the "One a Month Campaign", one commandment per month beginning in January 2007. But it doesn't matter when you join. Just match the Commandment with the current month (e.g. Feb = 2nd, June = 6th, etc). I believe the idea of America being on the "same page" could be powerful. God's Word does not return empty. Churches could participate by informing their congregations. Para-church organizations could gain energy and momentum for their causes. Individuals have an opportunity to make a personal statement of convictions.
