The “slutification of women”

By: American Decency Staff

This terminology was not mine but one of our readers though I readily acknowledge that I have used a similar term referencing the contemporary look of so many – the slutlike look.==================================================== *** What others are saying in response to yesterday's email: "… underwear showing boys/teenage girls garbed in low-cut tops. …" https://americandecency.org/main.php?f=updates_new/2008/February/02.11.08 *** Personal note *** Other *** What others are saying Email from Mountaintop, PA You've hit a nerve with me with this—and it's not just teenage issue. You might want to conduct a poll with your close female friends and relatives who are on the side of decency and modesty and ask them WHY IS IT SO HARD TO BUY MODEST WOMEN CLOTHES? I have some real pet peeves and I don't hear any public discussion about female clothing that affects ALL WOMEN clothes—for ALL age brackets and that is—-the primarily the BELOW the WAIST "waist line." WHAT is the purpose of below the waist line pants and skirts other than to show the belly button in front and the lower back when you bend over? Add to that "the plunging neck line that shows your boobs hanging out with the clingy tops" that look like undewear lingerie to be worn as tops and it makes me want to SCREAM everytime I want to go shopping for clothes. I've noted even below the waist line in kiddie clothes and in women's PLUS size clothes or clothes that I want to buy for my 80 y/o mother. I HAVE NO CHOICE! If I actually do find pants with a normal waist line, I treat that as if I just discovered an extinct species or a rare coin. If someone gave me $1000 for a spending spree at my local Macy's to buy clothes, I would have a hard time spending it. I have complained and complained, and I have written to clothes manufactures and I see no inkling that this 1960's "hip hugger" phase will fade away anytime soon. I call it the "SLUTIFICATION OF WOMEN." I've brought this up with "Concerned Women for America." I wish women would stop being so passive to what is being forced on them in the name of "FASHION" and complain and stop buying these ridiculous clothes for themselves and their daughters. Mountaintop, PA ========= Email from Richmond, VA We agree with you 100%, it is soooooo sad to see young teens looking so much like lewd performers!! boys with the baggy pants including an altered gait to accommodate the pants!! keeps them from falling down……..all a sheer ignorance in our minds…. those styles, the baggies are from earlier prison clothes…. the stripper look for girls are just horrible taste… and trying to desensitize our youth… we have metal detectors in our Jr/Sr highschools because of violent out of control FEW… polluting the vast majority….. it needs to stop but it must stop in the homes first!!! thanks for your constant reminder of the unraveling our our culture!!! ================ Email from Sparta, MI I wholly support the Auburn Hills effort and think it is about time somebody took positive action, I'm confused about how the teenagers are dressing has ANY effect on business. Butlet's put the blame where it belongs, on the backs of the parents that buy or allow their kids to dress this way! Our society is sick. It is obsessed with not just keeping up with the Joneses but keeping ahead of them! Being an old senior citizen Christian conservative, my wife stayed home to raise the kids at least until they were in highschool. I NEVER would allow my kids to dress this way. BUT, look at what our Christian girls wear at church these days! It's not all that much better than what you see in school! We also need to prick the consciences of our so called Christian parents! I think it may be time to address these dress codes in our churches! Personal note: If someone asked me what is one of the greatest shocks in my adult life, I would have to say how easily women (speaking generally) have fallen to peer pressure and the lies of the culture. My mother, though largely not churched, was a very modest woman. She saw through all of the phoney marketing and lies pressed upon her by the society. See: "Sex, Lies and Women's Magazines" https://americandecency.org/main.php?f=updates_new/2008/January/01.21.08 Anyone who has known my wife over these years knows that she too has been free of the seductions of the world yet is feminine and lovely starting from her inner person – spiritually. Other: I highly recommend the following resources: Nancy Leigh DeMoss' "The Look: Does God really care what I wear?" [available in booklet, CD and tape] ================================= "… Here is the reason why we have a moral breakdown in every area of life. The titanic freedoms which we once enjoyed have been cut loose from their Christian restraints and are becoming a force of destruction leading to chaos. And when this happens, there really are very few alternatives. All morality becomes relative, law becomes arbitrary, and society moves toward disintegration. In personal and social life, compassion is swallowed up by self-interest. …" Dr. Francis A.
