The Episcopal Bishop and unbiblical marriage and what about you and me and our church and denomination?

One of this mornings headlines in the Detroit Free Press:
“Report: Anglican says gay relationships are OK”

The twisting and manipulation of Scripture.

Does the Episcopal Bishop think that he ultimately will get away with his alterations of the Scripture? Apparently he does. But the Bible makes it clear that he won’t.

A commonly known Bible verse – certainly known by the Bishop:

“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”
Rev. 21:18-19

“LONDON — In newly disclosed letters, Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams wrote that the Bible doesn’t forbid same sex relationships when there is a commitment similar to traditional marriages, a British newspaper reported today. …”

The Bible tells us that there will be a great falling away in the later day. There will be deceivers.

“But evil men and impostors shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” [II Timothy 3:13]

“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts unto uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves: for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due.” [Romans 1:22-27]

Then I begin to ask the question how do denominations get to this point? Denominations like PCA – USA, and others like the United Methodist Church and others that are moving closer and closer to adopting a similar position as Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams and the Anglican Church.

The highly regarded author, speaker and writer Dr. Wayne Grudem speaks to this in his book “Evangelical Feminism” (Crossway Books).

Grudem expresses measured and researched documentation that as churches, denominations and Christians find ways to “claim there are no unique leadership roles for men in marriage or in the church … And there are no leadership roles in the church reserved for men, but women as well as men can be pastors and elders and hold any office in the church little by little is drawn into theological liberalism. …”

Quoting further (page 16):

“that recent trends now show that evangelical feminists are heading toward the denial of anything uniquely masculine, and some already endorse calling God ‘our Mother in heaven’

that the history of others who have adopted these positions shows that the next step is the endorsement of the moral legitimacy of homosexuality

that the common thread running through all of these trends is a rejection of the effective authority of Scripture in people’s lives and that this is the bedrock principle of theological liberalism.”

The Episcopal Bishop and unbiblical marriage and what about you and me and our church and denomination?

Where are you in all of this? What about your church? Your denomination? The slippery slope is awfully slippery. Far easier to go with the flow and compromise with those around us – accepting the worlds trends and ignore God’s clear Word. Try to take a stand against egalitarianism in your local church that has already compromised and see what happens.

This is a weighty matter. It has a lot to do with the pursuit of holiness too. If we are mishandlers of God’s Word and are a part of a church and denomination moving toward a liberal and errant handling of Truth IS NOT HONORING to the Lord. It also undermines our ability to instruct our children in regard to Biblical Manhood and Womanhood.

Pray for me as I expect to get some strong hate mail as a result of standing for Truth. My greater concern is for anyone who may be compromising on this concern which has such broad and serious implications. No – rather don’t pray for me – pray for those who are compromised and conformed to the lie and who are being negatively impacted and don’t even know it (or perhaps they do know) yet they remain silent.
