Personal note:
I have a lot of urgency in our daily messages. It turns some away because they think I’m negative all the time.
Yet, I do have in my heart and life many positive happenings, friends and longings. Speaking of which – I long for spring!
Here in Michigan, cabin fever is very real for many of us right now. We look forward to several days of sunshine, blue skies and warm temperatures someday hopefully soon.
Cabin fever (my definition) is being cooped up inside due to frigid temperatures, wind and snow, ice – day after day. It’s been a long winter – accompanied by the desire to break out and be able to take off your coat and gloves and hear the birds chirping and see your first robin of the season and feel the heat of the sun and experience the feel of spring!
Thinking ahead. Though I’m no expert on get aways or retreats nonetheless I believe in getting away for spiritual, physical, emotional refreshment and don’t get away as much as I ought.
Last summer my family experienced one of our greatest renewals that we have ever experienced in the Smoky Mountains – on the peaceful side of the Smokies – Townsend, TN (about 25 minutes from Gatlinburg – which is nice because if you want to experience the commercialized side of things for a little while – it isn’t far away).
I’m referencing a place nestled right up close to the Smokies – trees galore, the beauty of the mountain views from your porch right there helping you to find some rest, peace and quiet and refreshment. There is a dulcimer concert opportunity just down the road too and tubing down a little stream just minutes away. A campground just down the hill is available as well.
I speak of Little River Bluff Cabins:

===================================
“… Here is the reason why we have a moral breakdown in every area of life. The titanic freedoms which we once enjoyed have been cut loose from their Christian restraints and are becoming a force of destruction leading to chaos. And when this happens, there really are very few alternatives. All morality becomes relative, law becomes arbitrary, and society moves toward disintegration. In personal and social life, compassion is swallowed up by self-interest. …” Dr. Francis A. Schaeffer
