Pornography is a real problem

For a historical view of the "battle" against pornography over the last twenty years, I commend the article below — What happened? Or rather what didn't happen? [An up-to-date and accurate view – quoting long time warriors in the battle] Concern regarding the lack of law enforcement to enforce the law against pornography – both locally, regionally and nationally. =========================== Under the Reagan and George H. Bush administrations, there was significant law enforcement success against pornographers. As George W. Bush came into office, high hopes abounded that we would see positive investigative and prosecutorial initiatives re-exerted. It did not happen. What happened? Or rather what didn't happen? For those of you who would like a historical view of the "battle" against pornography over the last twenty years, I commend the article below (a special thanks to Phil Burress for forwarding it to me). It deals with questions like the following: *** Since 1995, the criminalization of Internet pornography has been a priority in Congress, with major pieces of legislation passing by wide majorities so why has there been virtually no push from the Department of Justice (DOJ) to prosecute purveyors of pornography over the Internet? Why has DOJ shown no appetite for taking on the issue? My friend Bob Peters President of Morality in Media states it well in the article “We need to teach future generations that this is not acceptable behavior, because pornography is a real problem for many people. …" " … The Supreme Court has said the states have a compelling interest in protecting minors from obscenity, and porn opponents point to statistics like those at TopTenReviews that say 90 percent of children ages 8 to 16 have been exposed to Internet porn. Peters argues adult material is too easily obtained by children. 'We need to make it so that pornographers risk losing money or going to jail for their behavior,' he [Robert Peters] says. …" http://www.abajournal.com/magazine/the_end_of_the_net_porn_wars/ ============================= A word from the past "… Here is the reason why we have a moral breakdown in every area of life. The titanic freedoms which we once enjoyed have been cut loose from their Christian restraints and are becoming a force of destruction leading to chaos. And when this happens, there really are very few alternatives. All morality becomes relative, law becomes arbitrary, and society moves toward disintegration. In personal and social life, compassion is swallowed up by self-interest. …" Dr. Francis A. Schaeffer ================== If you think our efforts are worthy, would you please support us with a small gift?
