One person did make a difference at a very large airport

Personal note:

In recent days, I have been struggling with our DSL carrier’s service. I have no service at the office today so this email alert is coming from my home.

Also, we won’t be able to update our webpage today as a result. Nonetheless, there is more than one way to “skin the cat” as the old adage goes.

I received the following email the other day from a lady who ran into some very racy magazines at an airport that she was traveling through. She didn’t just look the other way. May we all be encouraged to take action as she has done.

One person did make a difference. We can too – with God on our side —

Our family was recently traveling through the Dallas Ft Worth airport and one of the magazine stores had two pornographic magazines with the cover visible to the public. It was awkward for us as the seating area where we would spend the next two hours had all the magazines facing the gate. I approached the cashier and shared my concern. He said there was nothing he could do – and it was hard to communicate with him because his English was broken.

This morning, I spent 45 minutes on the phone and made about four phone calls to find the correct Texas political representative for the airport. Everyone seemed a bit confused as to whose jurisdiction it fell under, but the last office I spoke to did some research and said it was federal jurisdiction. They offered to call the person who would handle. To make a long story short, late this afternoon, I received a phone call from the DFW airport management letting me know that the airport general manager went to the store I reported and made sure all magazines with racy covers, whether officially adult or not were covered. I was of course thrilled at the result, as I knew how many thousands of people pass by that airport gate.

I wanted to share this testimony as an encouragement to others. Sometimes the battle seems impossible to fight, but I was encouraged that one little thing I did was effective even if only in a small way.

Thanks.
V.P.
