Narrow focus 2008

As we begin another new year, we look ahead with renewed expectation that God has a plan for American Decency Association.We are a pro-decency organization. Though we have grave concerns about many things, we are what we are – a pro-decency organization. We have strong concerns regarding Islamofascism, our borders, the upcoming Presidential election, the war in Iraq, civil unions and same-sex marriages, the battle upon the Word of God (and the many serious implications that result), but our focus will be upon decency matters. Our country is being attacked from without and from within. There are ministries called in a variety of ways on a variety of fronts. Let me name only a few for you. There is always a danger in naming ministries because in the process I will be omitting many other fine ministries. However, these are several that we have special affinity with in one way or another and that feed us in our work. ================= AFO.net – here is a ministry that is so concerned about the assault on the family and upon the individual that it labors hard to provide a filtering service (and far more) to help Christians guard their moral sensibilities. Because they take seriously the matter of personal purity, they block sites such as myspace.com – which sometimes (sadly) causes some to shy away from using their filter because they don't want to be without myspace.com (which is destroying lives spiritually and literally). http://www.afo.net American Family Association. I have many friends and kindred spirits in Tupelo, Mississippi. Being the former state director of Michigan for AFA, I have great love and appreciation for Don Wildmon and AFA and its years of activism. http:/www.afa.net Florida Family Association. Here is one of the few remaining state organizations that continues to diligently and effectively fight the fight for decency – day in and day out. David Caton is a masterful Christian leader and a man who seeks God's face in leading this organization based out of Tampa, Florida. David, too, is a former AFA guy having headed AFA of Florida for a number of years. http://floridafamily.org/ Campaign for Working Families. This organization is headed by Gary Bauer who once worked in the Reagan Administration and also led Family Research Council for a number of years. Gary Bauer formed CWF in 1996 to represent the interests and values of America's traditional families in the political arena. CWF is a non-partisan political action committee (PAC) dedicated to electing pro-family, pro-life and pro-free enterprise candidates to federal and state offices. http://www.campaignforfamilies.org/ Morality in Media – based in New York City fights hardcore, illegal pornography. MIM is headed by Robert Peters a genuine, passionate man doing a great service in fighting the fight against obscenity. MIM works to inform citizens and public officials about the harms of pornography and about what they can do through law to protect their communities and children. MIM also works to maintain standards of decency on TV and in other media. http:///www.moralityinmedia.org The Timothy Plan. The Timothy Plan® avoids investing in companies that are involved in practices contrary to Judeo-Christian principles. Their goal is to recapture traditional American values. They are America's first pro-life, pro-family, biblically-based mutual fund group. http://timothyplan.com/ Family Research Council. Though I don't know Tony Perkins personally I am very impressed with the ever growing influence of this Washington DC based Christian ministry. http://www.frc.org Citizens for Community Values. This state organization carries immense clout both in Cincinnati, statewide and nationally. Headed by Phil Burress, a warrior par excellence. http://ccv.org/ Focus on the Family. Of course, Dr. James Dobson's daily radio broadcast featuring interviews that feed, challenge and foster salt and light influence throughout the nation and world. http://www.family.org/ ===================================================================== Each of us can only do so much. The danger is to become spread out too thinly and lose our effectiveness. Perhaps you may want to sign up for the email alerts of some of these listed above. At any rate, may God continue to lead you and bless you and help you as an individual, in your family life and in your spiritual walk in Christ. Make no mistake. We are in spiritual warfare.
