Here we go into the unknown

By: Chris Johnson

Personal note:

Well, here we are one day before the election. There is much hanging in the balance. Note the attachment below from World Net Daily regarding what’s at stake as we go to the polls tomorrow.

There is also a call for a day of prayer and fasting. My wife and I are participating. God have mercy upon our nation once again. Amen.

” … James Dobson’s Focus on the Family Action recently released a ‘Letter from 2012 in Obama’s America,’ which targets the many evangelical Christians seeking ‘change,’ particularly the young, who could tip the election in favor of the Illinois Democrat.

At the end of the letter, the fictional Christian laments that these people ‘simply did not realize Obama’s far-left agenda would take away many of our freedoms as a nation, perhaps permanently,’ pointing to a new, liberal-majority Supreme Court unlikely to change for 30 more years.

‘Many of our freedoms have been taken away by a liberal Supreme Court and a majority of Democrats in both the House and the Senate, and hardly any brave citizen dares to resist the new government policies any more,’ the letter writer says.

The results the letter speculates may have happened by four years from now:

Six liberal justices sit on the Supreme Court after the immediate resignation of John Paul Stevens and Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the later resignations of Antonin Scalia and Anthony Kennedy. …”

The marriage simulcast that we participated in Saturday was immensely successful. What a joy it was to have each receive good counsel from Gary Smalley and others! It was easy to tell by way of the glow in the eyes of those attending. We also were so privileged to have Max and Doris with us – married 60 years. What a beautiful testimony to faithfulness and continuing to believe there is always something new to be learned. We also had some singles with us who were challenged by the wonderful spiritual content as they prepare for that day.

Lastly, a link that was forwarded to me by several regarding
“Teen Pregnancy Linked to Watching Sexy TV Shows”

“Groundbreaking research suggests that pregnancy rates are much higher among teens who watch a lot of TV with sexual dialogue and behavior than among those who have tamer viewing tastes. …”

Surprise? Hardly.

I couldn’t resist leaving you with a quote from J.C. Ryle:

“… And this I do boldly and confidently say, that true holiness is a great reality. It is something in a man that can be seen, and known, and marked, and felt by all around him. It is light: if it exists, it will show itself. If it is salt: if it exists, its savour will be perceived. It is a precious ointment: if it exists, its presence cannot be hid. …”
[Taken from “Holiness” by J.C.Ryle]

Ryle once believed that Christianity must be one of the most disagreeable occupations on earth — or in heaven. But one day in 1836 he happened into a church where, hearing Scripture read out loud, he was transformed. One verse, and the emphasis made in between each clause, gripped him: “By grace are ye saved … through faith … and that not of yourselves … it is the gift of God.” (Eph. 2:8)
