CBS’ “Swingtown” and other attacks

By: American Decency Staff

As I watched a man apparently naked come up to a married woman (whose husband was present) arrogantly play up to her, unbutton her blouse – with facial expressions displaying sexual excitation, despair fell upon me. Millions of children watched that. Innocence destroyed. Purity undermined. Illicit sex normalized! Somebody needs to pay! CBS needs to pay! Can you watch CBS? I’ve brought complaints to prosecuting attorneys regarding XXX-rated videos. I’ve attended obscenity cases. Themes in CBS’ “Swingtownâ€Â are found in pornographic material. Can you watch CBS? Last night CBS once again aired the depraved show, “Swingtownâ€Â. This is the show, as we reported last week, where the entire premise is bent on legitimizing ‘open marriage’ and group sex. The message propagated over and over is that ‘everyone’ has an open marriage – it isn’t adultery – it will improve one’s marriage. For an analysis of the first episode see: https://americandecency.org/main.php?f=updates_new/2008/June/06.10.08 Again the show promoted the twisted idea that group sex is acceptable and normal. The wife of a ‘straight-laced’ couple questions the sex she and her husband recently had with a neighbor couple, saying: “We’re not swingers. What did we do?â€Â Her husband answers: “Nothing that everyone else isn’t doing.â€Â Later she voices uncertainly about continuing the ‘swinging’ lifestyle and her friend tells her: “Oh, it’s only sex. It’s not what matters.â€Â Another scene shows this couple and their neighbors going to the Playboy club where there is talk of hooking up with other couples and the ‘straight-laced’ husband is shown kissing another woman as his wife watches. As in the first episode, pornography is portrayed as acceptable as one of the wives, now a lawyer, spoke positively of once working as a ‘Bunny’ at the Playboy Club, stating there’s “power in itâ€Â and how it put her through law school. Advertiser list includes: Quiznos, Bayer, Aleve, Dannon Yogurt, Hyundai…. ============================= And if this isn't damaging enough — And if this isn’t damaging enough there is also the news of Chief Justice Alex Kozinski (one rung below the Supreme Court) of the Ninth Circuit Court out of Los Angeles who was the presiding judge over a pornography case when it was discovered that he (Chief Justice Alex Kozinski) had pornography on his own webpage. “… the prosecutor requested time to explore ‘a potential conflict of interest concerning the court having a . . . sexually explicit website with similar material to what is on trial here.’…" [Editors not: A potential conflict? Of course, the prosecutor has to use such jargon.] In an interview Tuesday with The [LA] Times, Kozinski acknowledged posting sexual content on his website. Among the images on the site were a photo of naked women …. He defended some of the adult content as ‘funny’ but conceded that other postings were inappropriate. [I have elected not to give the full description but to suffice it to say it included bestiality.] Kozinski, 57, said that he thought the site was for his private storage and that he was not aware the images could be seen by the public, although he also said he had shared some material on the site with friends. After the interview Tuesday evening, he blocked public access to the site. Kozinski is one of the nation's highest-ranking judges and has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the U.S. Supreme Court. He was named chief judge of the 9th Circuit last year and is considered a judicial conservative on most issues. He was appointed to the federal bench by President Reagan in 1985. After publication of an latimes.com article about his website Wednesday morning, the judge offered another explanation for how the material might have been posted to the site. Tuesday evening he had told The Times that he had a clear recollection of some of the most objectionable material and that he was responsible for placing it on the Web. By Wednesday afternoon, as controversy about the website spread, Kozinski was seeking to shift responsibility, at least in part, to his adult son, Yale. …â€Â http://apnews.myway.com:80/article/20080612/D918R9N80.html Also: http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-kozinski12-2008jun12,0,6220192.story ================================ The following email describes what some of us are increasingly experiencing: “I honestly cannot take it anymore! My 9-yr old son went with me to the mall today to pick up a lipstick at Nordstrom. From where we parked to where the store is, we had to walk the halls of the mall. My poor son is totally horrified by the indecency in the window displays. He wore a baseball cap and had it pulled over his eyes while I held his hand and guided his steps. We are raising him to make a difference in this world and not to fall for the crap that the media and society paint as "normal". We as families should not be subjected to pornography in public places. That is what it is! PORN!!!It's everywhere! My son ended up in tears because he said he wants to erase the images from his head. I mean, we're regular city people who want to raise their children with respect and high moral values. Do we have to do everything online to protect him from seeing things a 9-yr old should not see? Or adults for that matter? What can we do? I was even in Payless Shoes buying shoes for my son. The music was blasting the highest possible decibels of rap music with the most graphic lyrics and profanity. We went to Foot Locker and found the same thing, only they had TV screens all over the store showing the videos of bumping and grinding straight up sex. We were at Macy's and my son sat outside the dressing room while I tried on a jacket, and he was right under a speaker with the same thing, horrible music with the worst possible content in the lyrics. Do we have to go move in with Amish people or something? This is insane!!!" ============ I fight on needing the power of God — May the following hymn be ours — My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale, My anchor holds within the veil. His oath, His covenant, His blood Support me in the whelming flood; When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay. When He shall come with trumpet sound, Oh, may I then in Him be found; Dressed in His righteousness alone, Faultless to stand before the throne. Refrain: On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand, All other ground is sinking sand. ================== Thank you for helping us stay in the battle for Truth and decency. https://americandecency.org/folder.php?f=donate Bill Johnson, president *********************************************************** American Decency Association Bill Johnson, President P.O.
