As you go into the Thanksgiving week …

By: Chris Johnson

With all of this pressure that so many of us are under, I get concerned for people and friends and loved ones who will go unnamed for my purposes here. Especially those whose marital relationships are just not what they could or should be.

I have a word of reminder here below. But first this.

My marriage of 38 years has been tried and tested as most marriages are if married any number of years. I have made a lot of mistakes. I have sinned, but God has been so very gracious.

Now I have a vantage point that I didn’t in my early and earlier years of marriage.

I trust the counsel of the Bible as I have seen Christ work in my life again and again and again. Trust Him at His Word!

—————————————-
I stand amazed at what God has done in our marriage now so solid and continuing to mature in depth, warmth, communications and love.
—————————————-

And at this point I couldn’t resist. I saw yesterday in a news clip that the Christian movie “Fireproof” had grossed $30 million dollars
as of November 17.

As you go into the Thanksgiving week where some of you may have a little extra time for loved ones, I once again encourage you if you haven’t already seen this anointed movie to see it and take other loved ones with you.

It is an amazing film in that it is so realistic in the way in which it portrays troubled relationship and how through the grace of God (not unlike what we experienced in our marriage) Christ broke through.

Go yourself. Take a younger couple or two. Take your parents. Take your children. It is still playing in a number of theaters across the country. It’s a must see!

It isn’t available in DVD form until January 27, 2009.

Here’s something else for your consideration .

“The Love Dare,” a book featured in the movie,” was No. 1 for three straight weeks on The New York Times’ paperback advice bestseller list and now is No. 2. It is published by B&H Publishing Group.

If you’ve seen the movie, you know the significance of this book.

We still have a few copies remaining. You may order it at:

Lastly, this word regarding our efforts to reach our match grant of $10,000 by December 31, 2008.

It’s a tough challenge in that it is for those who have never given or at least haven’t given since before 2007.

We have received 53 gifts totaling $2,340.00. If you stand with us, this would be a great time to demonstrate it in a tangible way. We are blessed and helped towards our goal with each and every gift.
