Personal note: Old timers (like myself) know first hand that there was a day when our airwaves weren't filled with the indoctrination of paganism, godlessness, perversion, anti-life propaganda, violence. The younger generations don't have the privilege of being raised in a time when the airwaves were permeated with wholesome programming. When youth had positive themes and programs that entertained them and filled their minds and hearts, they were more likely to emulate that which was portrayed. The opposite also has been and is being shown to be true. Once there was a day when there was a general and strong sense that our society was largely on the same page morally and ethically – in our neighborhoods, schools and cities. An individual who speaks very powerfully regarding this matter is former Lt. Colonel David Grossman. Several years ago I was invited to speak at a Reclaiming America event in Ft. Lauderdale as we received a "salt and light" award for our efforts regarding our nationwide monitoring of the Howard Stern radio show. Lt. Colonel David Grossman was one of the featured speakers at this powerful event. Grossman gave a timely speech in regard to his learned research relative to the connection between violent video games and the mass killings on our high school and college campuses. Grossman also commented upon an offer that he extended to his offspring as they became parents – that he would present them with a specified amount of money if they kept television out of their children's lives. Quoting from his bio: "Grossman has been an expert witness and consultant in state and Federal courts, to include serving on the prosecution team in UNITED STATES vs. TIMOTHY MCVEIGH. He helped train mental health professionals after the Jonesboro school shootings, and he was also involved in counseling or court cases in the aftermath of the Paducah, Springfield, and Littleton school shootings. He has testified before U.S. Senate and Congressional committees and numerous state legislatures, and he and his research have been cited in a national address by the President of the United States. Col. Grossman is an Airborne Ranger infantry officer, and a prior-service sergeant and paratrooper, with a total of over 23 years experience in leading U.S. soldiers worldwide. He retired from the Army in February 1998 and has devoted himself full-time to teaching, writing, speaking, and research. Today he is the director of the Killology Research Group, and in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks he is on the road almost 300 days a year, training elite military and law enforcement organizations worldwide about the reality of combat." http://www.killology.com/ To hear David Grossman's presentation (mp3) on this significant concern: https://americandecency.org/resources/audio/2008/January/grossman.mp3 [Special note: The download will take a few minutes as the presentation was over 40 minutes in length.] I make this available because his message serves as a powerful word from one of the world's foremost experts on why we are seeing this outbreak of killings in recent years. How about you? How about me? Are we guarding our hearts and minds and of those we love from the regular bombardment and flow of that which is not pleasing and honoring to our Lord and Savior? ==================================== "… Here is the reason why we have a moral breakdown in every area of life. The titanic freedoms which we once enjoyed have been cut loose from their Christian restraints and are becoming a force of destruction leading to chaos. And when this happens, there really are very few alternatives. All morality becomes relative, law becomes arbitrary, and society moves toward disintegration. In personal and social life, compassion is swallowed up by self-interest. …" Dr. Francis A.
