When we led the way in getting the Howard Stern Show off regular airwaves, we regularly received a wide variety of mail – largely, sarcastic, laced with profanity. Targeting Victoria's Secret brings out a variety of email responses as you will see below. Letter #1: Commenting upon yesterday's email alert ("If you have investments in any of the following 10 mutual funds then you have dollars supporting Victoria's Secret (Limited Brands)." https://americandecency.org/main.php?f=updates_new/2007/November/11.12.07 "We became aware of Timothy last year and transferred all of our annuity IRA holdings to them in Nov 06. Within one month we had recouped all of the buyin fees and in the 6 months following we had regained 10 years of lost profits due (in my estimation) to [COMPANY NAMED EDITED BY ME] mismanagement'!! This year we discovered that another separately owned fund was not 'very good' so we sold it too and bought Timothy. Again within 3 months we gained back the buyin fee and it it is showing profits even as the market has gone down. |You may have to edit out the specific names but you may tell others of our experience…" Glen Burnie, Md Letter #2: "I have many investments, and I'm clean. Thanks for the info." Gary Letter #3: This writer thinks we need to get a life. "Get a life victorias secret is here to stay and there is nothing you can do about it." Letter #4: A kindred spirit "Thank you for taking such a hard line on Victoria's Secret. It is nothing but pornography!!! Luring young women into the idea of sexy is what makes you worthy! which is so far from the Proverbs 31 woman. Christians need to stand up and take a stand against such filth!" M.A. Letter #5: This writer states that we are "uppity people" "I can't believe you people. You have nothing more to worry about then Victoria Secret. My … i'm glad are whole society is not made up of uppity people like you who think you have the right to tell us what is right or wrong. Go crawl in a hole or worry about important issues such as sickness, suffering, starvation, and so on. Pull your head out of your — and get with it." Letter #6: Recommends "Disciplines of Godly Man." "Unfortunately too many Christians take the attitude that I am not going to these places and really don't see any problem with making money off of them. To me it is no different than investing in child pornography and saying I don't participate in it, it is going to exist so why not take advantage of it and make money off of it. I give some of the money to the church so how bad can it be. Purity, morality, and holiness has left the Christian arena and it makes my heart cry out to God to bring us back to Him. You have recommended and offered the Pursuit of Holiness which is excellent, the men's study I am in is now going through it. I would like to recommend another excellent book to you called Disciplines of a Godly Man. I would put this book right up their with Pursuit of Holiness. Thanks for taking the front lines in this battle. You are an encouragement to all true Christians by your actions, thank you." In Him, G.S. Letter #7: UNSUBCRIBE OR SHE WILL TAKE ACTION "To whom this may concern: Please stop sending me these ridiculous emails if you don't stop. I will take futher action." Patty52 Letter #8: AND THEN THERE IS THE SARCASTIC ONE. THIS ONE LEADS THE WAY IN SARCASM FOR THE DAY! "Finally someone willing say something about these window displays. I've even seen some pretty scary scenes in Macy's and Dillards that made me cover my child's eyes. Things are so bad that I won't even take my 15 year old son to the mall anymore because of the disturbing effect the so called "mannequins" have on him. I'd go as for as to call them "harlotquinees" because they are bearing the mid-drift, low neck lines, upper thighs, lowers thighs and I've even seen BARE FEET!!! It's time for a change and I am going to be the first person in my parish to proudly display the bumper stickers you are offering. If you would like, you can send me some for my whole church group. I'm sure there are more than enough followers that would be as proud as I am to stand up in defiance against the evil powers of the sex industry being plied in our malls, which used to be for fun days of shopping and eating and now evoke the reminiscence of a Amsterdamn red light side street. I would like 2 stickers for each car in my family (3 cars total). Please if at all possible send me stickers for my fellow worshipers. We are all about decency here in Los Angeles and I hope I can spread your word of decency in my fair city. We have approximately 50 members of our Church so send what you can." "… I would like to again offer a $15,000 matching grant to anyone who hasn't given since 12/31/05 or to anyone who gives more than what they gave in 2006 (e.g. if they gave $1,000 in '06 and gave $1500 in '07, we will match the $500 increase as long as it was given between 9/10/07-12/31/07). We will match these gifts received from 9/10/07 through 12/31/07." Help us meet this challenge. Thanks so much – https://secure4.afo.net/ada/main.php?f=donate/display9
