..Meijer got out of the video rental business back in the 90’s due to public outcry. So what are they doing selling DVDs like the following? Meijer is a superstore based in Michigan. Below are the words that I emailed to Meijer leadership. But first this – I spoke a couple of weeks ago to a local Meijer manager who recalled that Meijer had gotten out of the video rental business because of expressions of concern. She said she was going to immediately pull these DVDs (the cover, by the way is very explicit) from her local store. My email to Meijer dated June 26, 2007. You have done so well in staying away from DVD’s that are blatantly immoral. As you will recall thousands of our supporters expressed frequent concerns about your video rentals in the 1990s. But here you are again. Case in point: Reno 911! UNRATED focus on the behind of a topless woman With these words on the cover: Keep your hands where we can see them because this unrated edition of Reno 911!: Miami is packed with gratuitous nudity and violence. Featuring outrageous footage not shown in theaters, along with cast commentaries, extended scenes and more, it’s sexy, barely legal fun! If you love un-pixilated boob shots, …… etc… We have concerns regarding other titles as well, but it’s your job to keep this trash out of your inventory. This would make many of your customers irate. Please contact me and let me know your intentions. I have not gone public with this as yet and don’t want to. We just got through having people send you post cards expressing appreciation. Please be careful. Looking forward to a call or email.
