How to have moral impurity

By: American Decency Staff

“I’m a Christian. I have a MySpace. I think many people have been reached and examples of Christ and conversations started because of MySpace. Please take me off your email list.” [a former subscriber to ADA’s email alerts] Today’s email is entitled “How to have moral impurity. The quote at the top asking to be taken off from our email list doesn’t mean that the person sending it is going to go to hell. However, when one begins to see what MySpace.com includes, how can one affiliate with this site in any way – with due respect to the many churches, Christian groups, etc. – that have sites on this pornographic site. We are temples of the Holy Spirit. We are set apart, a peculiar people, a holy people. Does God’s word tells us this or not? The first function of faith is to believe in Christ for salvation. The Holy Spirit then takes up residence in your spirit and confirms that you are a Christian. “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God” (Romans 8:16). It is only by faith that you are ABLE TO SEE AND AGREE with the moral standards of God. As Christians, we are called out to be different from the world because we are Christians – not of the devil. We have so much confusion about how to be Christians as a multiplicity of churches are so careful not to offend the flock with specific targeting of what is sinful – areas where Satan is smashing away at Christians are being legitimized as the pulpit tiptoes ever so lightly – giving sin a free pass. Make no mistake. Satan is having a field day with MySpace.com. And the church is silent or even condoning it by its silence or by participating on it. Consider the following verses: “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” [Cor 6:16-18] “My sheep hear my voice and they follow me.” [John 10:27] “If you love me you will keep my commandments.” [John 14:15] “As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” [Romans 8:14] “And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” [Romans 12:1,2] “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” [2 Tim 3:12-13] To reinforce my point, some (many) churches and Christians are foolishly embracing the new Hollywood “family” production “Evan Almighty”. Quoting the AFA’s recent review: “… Comical, disrespectful and incorrect references are made to Biblical topics. For example, during the credits God appears and adds a new commandment to the 10: ‘Thou shalt do the dance.’ This refers to a funny dance Evan performs throughout the film. In addition, the movie misrepresents Scripture in a number of ways, first of all by manufacturing an unbiblical view of God and His nature. Evan Almighty paints the Heavenly Father as an irreverent being who uses humiliation to coax a person into doing what He says….” And then this verse in closing: “Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.” [Ezek 22:26] NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE HOLY AND PROFANE Be holy for I am holy? Is being on MySpace a holy thing? Is it clean? Is promoting and/or attending “Evan Almighty” clean or unclean? Father God, create in your people a hunger and thirst for righteousness that we will go against the tide of the lukewarm, the religious, the lethargic – even as it will mean that we experience loneliness, persecution. Help us to not be afraid nor ashamed to come out from among them and seek holiness. In your name. Our July bulletin insert Oh that many churches would make this information available to their people that moms and dads and their children would be urged to seek “higher ground” and not give place for Satan.
